Benching Trent Solves Nothing

November 17th, 2009

According to Jason La Canfora, the Buffalo Bills will start quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick Sunday.

The fact of the matter is that it doesn’t matter who the Bills start they will lose.

The problems with the Bills is bigger than the quarterback.

First, their offense is so basic defenses are easily able to figure what the Bills are doing as they use very few formations and personell groups, along with very little shifting and motion.

Secondly, the offensive line is decimated by injuries, which means tight ends have to stay and block instead of going into routes.

In the end the problems with this team starts with the coaches and only till they are replaced will things get better.

A Solid Decision Maker is the Key

November 17th, 2009

Many people are down on the current Buffalo Bills scouting staff for missing on the quarterback position twice in the draft.

What the real problem is the Bills have not had a solid decision maker since the Bills had Bill Polian as general manager.

Vic Carucci of NFL.com wrote recently that he suspects Bills owner Ralph Wilson will go out and hire a top notch head coach.

That is great, but the fact of the matter is that the person that brings in good personnel is the general manager.

Coaches that have been entrusted to make decisions on personell have for the most part just flopped, except former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher.

In the end the Bills will get back to the playoffs when they have the next top notch GM.

Quinn Should be Suspended

November 17th, 2009

On Monday Night Football Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn dove at Baltimore Ravebs linebacker Terrell Suggs’ knees after his second interception of the day.

With this being the second incident of a quarterback diving at a defender after an interception Quinn should be suspended.

Earlier this year New York Jets quarteeback Mark Sanchez dove at a defenders knees after he threw an interception.

That means Quinn knew fully well that doing what he did was wrong.

For that Quinn should be suspended a game for doing so as this type of conduct cannot be tolerated.

As a result of the incident Suggs was injured and it is not know right now how severe his injury is.

In the end Quinn needs to step up and appologize, because what he did was nothing more than juvinile.

Bills Need to Start Maybin

November 16th, 2009

The Buffalo Bills took have been nothing short of a disaster.

With first round pick Aaron Maybin still on the bench it is time for the Bills to start him.

Maybin Sunday got only three snaps.

That right there is a clear sign that the coaching staff is clearly incompetent.

While all the other top fifteen picks are having an impact on their team, along with significant playing time, the Bills still refuse to give him more snaps.

It is a case of the Bills being cautious for no reason what so ever.

The defensive end position is not a hard position to learn as it is more about getting into shape of that of a elite defensive end, which takes a full year.

Other teams that took defensive ends in the first round have found a way to get them on the field, while the Bills still haven’t.

In the end things each week are just getting more and more pathetic to the point its commical.

2009 Week Ten Quick Comentary

November 16th, 2009

Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers:

Falcons: If running back Michael Turner is out for an extended period of time the Falcons will miss the playoffs.

Panthers: Any hopes of salvaging their season went up in smoke when Jordan Gross broke his ankle.

Buffalo Bills at Tennessee Titans;

Bills: The Bills at this point are better off ccutting Owens as his antics will only get worst.

Titans; With the way Titans running back Chris Johnson playing they may be able to run the table.

New Orleans Saint at Saint Louis Rams:
Saints: With the defense getting torched by quarterback Marc Bulger. It is apparant the Saints are thin in the defensive backfield.

Rams: With Bulger having a solid day you have to wonder if he finally returned to form.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Miami Dolphins:

Buccaneers: quarterback Josh Freeman is playing good now, but the key is how he is performing after three games.

Dolphins: The way the running game is going the Dolphins still have a shot at the playoffs as they don’t have to rely on quarterback Chad Henne.

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings:

Lions: Quarterback Matt Stafford looks like a franchise quarterback and if they get him one more stud wide receiver the Lions offense will be dangerous.

Vikings: If Adrian Peterson stays healthy he is going to break all of the rushing records.

Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Jets:

Jaguars:  Kneeling at the one on the game winning drive to kill time is such a great play.  He has definitely earned the right to say what he wants about the offense as he has proven to be a super intelligent player.

Jets: As it was pointed out on SI.com the Jets miss nose tackle Kris Jenkins and with linebacker Vernon Gholston still not playing you have to wonder if he is really meant for a 4-3 defense.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals:

Steelers: As good as running back Rashard Mendenhall and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger against good teams they are not going to be able to carry the offense with that crappy offensive line.

Bengals: The scary thing is that the Bengals held the Steelers to 254 yards of total offense without star linebacker Keith Rivers.  If the Bengals stay healthy they are making a deep run at the playoffs.

Denver Broncos at Washington Redskins:

Broncos: Many people may be down on the Broncos, but when your starting quarterback goes down it is always tough to win.

Redskins:  Just think Brian Orakpo at defensive end would be a terror as he already has seven sacks at outside linebacker and he is not always going after the quarterback.

Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders:

Chiefs: With quarterback Matt Cassel coming around if the Cheifs get him a weapon or two the offense will be dangerous.  As for the defense that is a project as they are still in the midst of switching to a 3-4.

Raiders: Quarterback Jamarcus Russell is nothing short of the biggest bust since David Carr, which goes to show that without good coaching quarterbacks get ruined.

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Caridnals:

Seattle Seahawks:  Letting defensive tackle Rocky Bernard walk was foolish as the Seahawks are getting no production from the defensive tackles.  Also, you sent a starting linebacker in a trade for defensive lineman Corey Redding only to let him sit on the bench?  Why not start him at defensive tackle as he is big enough for it.

Arizona Cardinals: You got to feel bad for wide receiver Anquan Boldin as he is in the top 25 in the National Football League in receptions, but cannot get a new contract.

Philadelphia Eagles at San Diego Chargers:

Eagles: With Westbrook suffering his second concussion this year he needs to start evaluating what is more important as if he continues to play he will be putting his long term health in danger.

Chargers: With running back Ladanian Tomlinson finally learning he is a father you have to wonder how much that will carry him this season.

Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers:
Cowboys: You got to feel for the Cowboys after the referees messed up a fumble that the ruled in favor for the Packers, which replay shows clearly that the Cowboys recovered. Then to hear that fumbles aren’t reviewable has to be aggravating.

Packers: The defense is starting to take form with them recording four sacks Sunday.

New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts:
Patriots: You know I agree with Patriots head coach Bill Bekichick as the offense is the better unit and why not try to win the game with what works best.

Colts: As long as Bill Polian is running the team the Colts will always have a chance.

Just Pathetic

November 15th, 2009

The Buffalo Bills headed into Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans looking to fix their sinking ship.

The only thing that came out of this game is that the Bills are just pathetic.

In all my years of football this team is by far the worst I have ever seen.

They are so desperate that coaches are playing players in different positions than they normally play to fix thing, but all that does is make things worst.

The Bills moved safety Bryon Scott to linebacker this week and the move was horrible as he got eaten alive by offensive lineman and blew a tackle on what would be the game winning touchdown by the Tennessee Titans.

The only other thing I have to say about the defense is that defensive coordinator Perry Fewell needs to be fired as his play calling stinks.

Titans running back Chris Johnson gashed the Bills all game in the run and pass, but still Fewell stayed back in their typical defense when he should have been blitzing to take Johnson away.

As for the offense the first thing they need to do is cut wide receiver Terrell Owens as he is not a difference maker in this offense.

There is just way too many injuries on this club as people every week go down with something major.

The only way to fix this mess is to clear out the front office, along with Bills head coach Dick Jauron and his coaching staff.

In the end if the Bills fail to do this save your money Bills fans and don’t buy season tickets next year.

Bengals are in Trouble Now

November 14th, 2009

Earlier this week word broke out that Cincinnat Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco wanted to send a case of mustard to this weeks opponent in the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Eventhough Ochocinco was told not to by Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis a case still found its way there, which now means the Bengals are in trouble.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazett the package arived with a signature that said the fans of Chad Ochocinco.

Even if this was a Steelers fan setting up Ochocinco the fact of the matter is that the Steelers will be motivated and ready to go Sunday.

In the end the team needs to teach Ochocinco a lesson that makes sure he never even thinks about doing something like this.

NFL Fine on Cutler is Garbage

November 13th, 2009

The National Football League fined Chicago Bears quarterback for abusive conduct towards a referee.

Clearly this is nothing short of being plain garbage.

There is clearly a double standard as NFL head coaches all the time rip referees that are on the sidelines for calls they think are wrong.

Of course the comment were all laced with four letter swear words.

The best one that I heard came from former Buffalo Bills head coach Marv Levy as he called a referee an “over officious jerk.”

You got to wonder if the referee that was on the end of that one knows what officious means, because I sure the heck don’t.

Players are emotional people that go through highs and low each game.

In the end the NFL is starting to over officiate the game.

The beginning of the End for Bruce

November 13th, 2009

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Issac Bruce has had a long storied career.

However, his career is soon coming to an end.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Bruce has been relegated to the third wide receiver position.

The reason is that the 49ers feel it I’d time to give wide receiver Stanley Morgan a look at the starting wide receiver, and see what he can do.

Even if the move doesn’t work you have to admire head coach Mike Singletary’s courage as he is willing to meet the tough decisions head on.

In the end with Singletary at the helm the 49ers should return to their former glory.
