Checketts Made the Right Move

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Saint Louis Blue owner Dave Checketts has confirmed in a statement to the Associated Press that he has dropped radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh from his ownership group that is bidding to buy the Saint Louis Rams.

Simply, it was the right thing to do.

Limbaugh never had a chance as the National Football League is a image conscience league that doesn’t like such controversial comments that Limbaugh states all the time.

Checketts should have known from the beginning that Limbaugh didn’t have a shot as several years slammed Donovan McNabb during his short stint on ESPN.

In the end it was the right move for everyone.

NFL Neeeds to Just Say No

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Word has come out that radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has teamed up with Saint Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts to buy the Saint Louis Rams.

What the National Football League needs to do is say no thqank you.

Limbaugh brings to much negative attention and would make the NFL look even more like a league that doesn’t care who is apart of the league as long as it brings some attention.

Limbaugh several years ago made deragatory racist comments about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb.

In the end Checketts and Limbaugh wouldn’t save the Rams they accelerate their decent into bankruptcy as very few business and people would buy suites or tickets.

Rams Linebacker Gets a Raw Deal

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

The Saint Louis Rams have been informed that linebacker David Vobora will be suspended four games for a violation of the league’s performance enhancing substances.

It is clear that Vobora is getting a raw deal from the National Football League.

According to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, a supplement that Vobora was taking was tainted with a substance that is on the NFL’s banned list.

Vobora was told by the league hotline to see if it was on the banned products list before taking it, which it was not.

The thing is how is Vobora responsible for this when neither the NFL or NFLPA knew that the supplement was tainted.

If a substance is being secretly put in the player will have no clue it is in there as it will not be on the label.

The league’s policy is that players are responsible for whatever they put in their bodies.

That is a complete load of manure.

So, what is next for Vobora?

You can expect the NFLPA to be all over this one as nobody was informed about problems with the supplement like Starcaps saga.

In the end you can expect another long knock out drag out fight that the League will surely lose.

Will Jackson Be the Next to Go

Friday, September 25th, 2009

The Saint Louis Rams earlier this year said goodbye to wide receiver Torry and Orlando Pace.

That has to leave one wondering of if Jackson gets hurt again will he be the next one to go?

Jackson the last two previous season has played in only 12 games each year.

That is not a good sign as at 26 years old Jackson is already starting to show signs of breakdown.

Each year a running back plays the pounding builds up until one year it their body just hits a wall and is unable to compete at the level it once performed at.

With the Rams being a bad team Jackson is going to take more of a pounding than usual.

In the end if the Rams were smart they would trade Jackson and use it as part of their rebuilding process.

Rams Make the Right Move

Monday, August 31st, 2009

The Saint Louis Rams saw the quarterback Marc Bulger step up his rehab on Monday as it has been two weeks since he broke his pinky finger.

With only the preseason finale left before the season opener the Rams were smart to not give into temptation.

According to the Saint Louis Post Dispatch, Bulger could play today if there was a regular season game, but decided that he will not play in the regular season finale.

Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo is being overly cautious as they have not even put Bulger under center yet to take a snap, which is the smart move.

So, when will the Rams let Bulger practice fully?

That will most likely be the Monday following the preseason finale as teams will start preparing for the season opener.

Some people might say that he needs to see some work as he has missed the last two preseason games.

That might be true in the sense that the timing might be off a little, but as long as Bulger takes a couple extra minutes to work with receivers after practice he should be fine.

In the end it is better safe than sorry as quarterbacks are too important to lose to injury.

Will the Rams Offensive Line be Better?

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

The Saint Louis Rams offense was a disaster last year, because of their offensive line.  With the Rams addressing the offensive line in free agency and the draft the question is will they be better?

The Rams first move was the signing of center Jason Brown in free agency.

The next move was the cutting of long time left tackle Orlando Pace who was is getting up there in age and is just not what he use to be and has not played a full season in four years.
Then in April’s National Football League Draft the Rams took offensive tackle Jason Smith second overall.

The offensive line’s play last year caused quarterback Marc Bulger to take a lot of hits, which affected his play.

Now, with the improvements in the offensive line the offense should be much improved in 2009, which should allow the team to compete with the Arizona Cardinals for the NFC East Division.

In the end the Rams is one of the most likely candidates for a huge turn around in 2009.

It is About Time

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

The Saint Louis Rams have some remarkable people within the history of their franchise, but one stands out about the rest.  Finally, this man is getting the due that he deserves.

The Saint Louis Post Dispatch has reported that the Rams will retire the number 75 of Hall of Famer Deacon Jones who was enshrined in 1980.

Jones himself was quoted as saying he has been wondering why his number 75 has not been retired.

Jones has been deserving of this, because if sacks were kept track of when he played when he retired he would of been the all time sack leader untill the late great Reggie White would have broken it.

Jones even had a move that had to be banned by the National Football League in the head slap, because it was so effective.

Jones even created the phrase sack, which is widely used today in the NFL.

In the end Jones revolutionized the defensive end position and it is about time that the Rams finally woke up and gave him what he justly deserves.

Spagnuolo Made the Right Call?

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Saint Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo let go of linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa Friday.  The call may have been a tough one, but  was it the right one?

Tinoisamoa was the leading tackler for the Rams in 2003, 2004, 2005, and last year.  That should have many Ram fans wondering what are they doing, especially with a smaller aging linebacker Chris Draft still on the roster.

The thing is though when they hired Spagnuolo as the head coach he brought with him a whole new offensive and defensive systems.  That means there are a lot of current players that does not fit his system, which one of them was Tinoisamoa supposively.

That is the problem with many coaches as their system is more important than the players.  That means years of drafting and free agency before a team sees the playoffs.

The fact is the league is a win now league, and coaches can do that if they are smart.  Meaning that coaches instead of installing their system they put a system that fits the players.

Then they gradually shift over to what they want to do like, which is exactly what the Kansas City Chiefs are doing as they are going to play a 4-3 base with some 3-4 alignments out of it.

Eventually, they will make the switch to a 3-4 base defense when they accumulated the personnel for it.

With Spagnuolo being the former New York Giants defensive coordinator, if there is not immediate improvement by the Rams, then many fans will be calling for his head.

That will also happen if linebacker Chris draft, who is 33, 5′11 inches tall, and listed at 236 pounds, has a bad year as well.
When that happens Spagnuolo has only himself to blame after all you just do not let go your leading tackler who is only 27 years old

The End of an Era in Saint Louis Coming

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

The release of offensive tackle Orlando Pace confirmed the news that has been rumored for weeks.  The news today signifies that an end of an era is coming to Saint Louis.

Orlando Pace was one of the last three remaining members of the Rams Superbowl winning roster.  The other person that is soon to be cut of the three will be wide receiver Tory Holt, thus leaving only defensive end Leonard Little as the last remaining member.

The move is foolish of the Rams, because no matter their age they are going to be better than most other players at their position.  The only way it is worth while is to find the next player that is just as good, or better.

The Buffalo Bills after the 1999 season cut defensive end Bruce Smith, wide receiver Andre Reed, and running back Thurman Thomas.  If the Bills kept the three, instead of cutting them to save money, the Bills probably would have made the playoffs in 2002.

In the National Football League a team can turn around overnight and cutting them could be the difference between making the playoffs, and not.
