An Interesting Move in Washington

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

The Washington Redskins announced the hiring of Shern Lewis to be a consultant foe the offense.

The move is definitely interesting move in many ways.

The Redskins early last year had a dominant offense as they ran the football with ease and quarterback Jason Campbell looked great.

Howwever, things changed as the year went on due to teams catching on to what they were doing.

It is obvious this year that head coach Jim Zorn did not add a lot of new wrinkles as the offense has been bad from the start.

The hiring of Lewis should jolt the coaching staff as it unintentionally sends a message that what they are doing is unnacceptable.

CBS analyst Charlie Casserly calls the move the kiss of death, which could be true since this is a deperate move.

In the end it is all up to the players and their reaction to this as it will make them better or a ticking time bomb.

Just Plain Sloppy

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

The grass at Fed Ex Field, which is the home of the Washington Redskins, has already taken a beating.

With the field not being replaced till next week the field will be sloppy this Sunday, which characterizes the whole organization.

The last straw took place this past Tuesday when U2 held a concert there.

Last month U2 held a concert at Soldier field, home of the Chicago Bears, and the grass was immediately replaced.

With thousands of people trampling the field when the the game starts Sunday there are going to be huge chunks of lossened grass from the concert.

What the whole situation shows is the stupiditry of the Redskins as someone this Sunday is surely going to suffer a season ending injury due to the ground giving away.

In the end as long as Dan Snyder owns the Redskins they will always be a mess.

Haynesworth is Going to Learn a Lesson

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Washington Redskins defensive tackle Alberrt Haynesworth is in the midst of a ugly divorce.

When the divorce proceedings finish Haynesworth will learn the hard way the next time he gets married he better get a prenuptual agreement.

Haynesworth this offseason signed a monster deal that included $40 million guaranteed.

That means Haynesworth will be coughing up at least $20 million.

So, in order to meet his obligations Haynesworth will have to sell his house, cars, and other assets.

In the end other National Football League players better take note, or you will lose a lot of money as well.

Competition at Guard is Laughable

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

The Washington Redskins lost right guard Randy Thomas for the year as he suffered a season ending injury in the win against the Saint Louis Rams.

The way they are going about to replace Thomas is just purely laughable.

According to the Washington Post, Redskins head coach Jim Zorn announced that guard Chris Rinehart and guard/center Will Montgomery will compete for the job.

The player that should replace Thomas is the player that practiced all through training camp at that position.

Having a competition at this point in the season is just plain stupid as it limits the number of snaps the starter will take throughout the week during practice.

What it will do is not allow the starter to develop the communication and the chemistry that is needed for an offensive line to get the job done.

In the end if Zorn keeps pulling moves like this he will find himselg poop canned.

Jarmon is a Risk

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

The Washington Redskins took defensive end Jeremy Jarmon in the third round of the supplemental draft.  Considering how he got there Jarmon is a risky pick.

Jarmon lost his elegibility after he failed a drug test for a banned substance.

The fact that he lost his eligibility the way he did raises a whole bunch of red flags that teams are foolishly ignoring.

The reason being that players that take banned substances are usually dabbling in other drugs.

The thing is that National Football League drug testing is much more stringent.
That means if Jarmon doesn’t smarten up he is going to find himself unemployment soon as the NFL always finds out if someone is doing something.

In the end with only four supplemental picks being on active rosters the Redskins are fools anywhich way for wasting their 2010 third round pick, but if he stays clean it will be a steal.

Goodell has a Tough Decision

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Washington Redskin defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has gotten off easy again.  That means it is up to National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell will have a tough decision on what to do with Haynesworth.

Somehow Haynesworth avoided jail time eventhough his reckless driving arrest was during his probabtionary period.

The reason is that prosecutors in Nashville state that they didn’t find out untill his probation was done, which means to them they cannot do anything.

Haynesworth settled his case on Thursday by pleading no contest to reckless driving in return getting three months probabtion, a five thousand dollar donation, perform 25 hours of community service, and attend driving school, according to the Tennessean.

Haynesworth is out of control as everytime somthing happens with him someone gets hurt, which is the case with this incident as a young man is disabled for life thanks to Haynesworth.

Simply, Goodell needs to suspend Haynesworth indefinitely until he can show that he has learned his lesson and shows genuie remorse.

In the end Haynesworth was already given a second chance after stomping on Dallas Cowboys center Andre Gurode’s forehead om 2006 and a third after his first reckless driving incident, which should lead to Goodell throwing him out for at least a year.

It is Make or Break for Campbell

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Washington Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell played great football in the first half of the 2008 season as he threw for 1,754 yards passing with eight touchdowns and no interceptions for a 99.59 quarterback rating.  With the talent that he is surrounded by it is a make or break season.

The Redskins have a lot of weapons on offense with wide receivers Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El, along with tight end Chris Cooley.

They even have talent on the bench with backup wide receivers Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly, along with tight end Fred Davis who were all taken in the second round of the 2008 National Football League Draft.

Also, the Redskins have a powerful running game led by running back Clinton Portis, which was ranked eighth in the NFL last year.

It became obvious that the Redskins front office have doubts about Campbell as they tried to trade for quarterback Jay Cutler and then in this past April’s NFL Draft they tried to trade up to draft quarterback Mark Sanchez.

In the end if that isn’t enough motivation for Campbell then he just wasn’t meant to be a starter.

Williams on His Way to Change His Legacy

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Washington Redskins offensive tackle Mike Williams failed miserably in his time with the Buffalo Bills due to his lack of commitment to the game.  That is changing as Williams came into the opening of Redskins Offseason Team Activities at 380 pounds.

Williams earlier this year was at 450 pounds, but realized that he had to get it down for his own health.  In the midst of his weight loss he realized that his body felt good and that the way he left the game was not what he wanted to be remembered for.

Williams is in Buffalo was a bust, because of his lack of commitment, which caused his weight to go up.  The more weight you gain the more speed and athleticism you will lose, which is why Williams struggled.

Williams entered OTA’s just five pounds off his stated goal of 375 for when they started.  His ultimate goal is to get down to his college playing weight at the University of Texas, which was 345.

Williams is committed for life to keep his weight down as the whole thing was started as a pact with fellow Redskins guard Derrick Dockery.

With a renewed commitment to the game and to his health Williams success will be one of the biggest headlines of the 2009 season.

Haynesworth Could Be One and Done

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

The Washington Redskins signed defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth signed a record seven year $100 million contract.  However, after looking at the details of the contract Haynesworth could be cut after only one year.

The amazing part of Haynesworth deal is the lack of a big signing bonus.  According to SI.com’s Peter King, Haynesworth only received a five milllion dollar signing bonus.

The first four years of Haynesworth contract is $48 million total.  Pittsburgh Steelers guard Chris Kemoeatu received a four million dollar signing bonus for a contract that totaled $20 million.

In the second year of his contract Haynesworth is due a $21 million option bonus.  That means if the Redskins cut him before they are due to pay the option bonus they owe him none of it, and save $1.1 million against the salary cap.

The Redskins would save money, because signing bonuses are spread out over the life of the contract.  So, if he was cut in the second year the signing bonus would be $2.5 million for each yea.  Haynesworth due to earn $3.6 million salary in 2010, thus saving $1.1 million.

I cannot seeing any agent allowing their client to take so little of a signing bonus, so the decision had to be clearly Haynesworth himself.

Simply, Haynesworth is the biggest egotistical moron in the National Football League.

Redskins Need to Concentrate on Lines in Draft

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

The weakest position on the Washington Redskins maybe the wide receivers, but that was addressed in last April’s draft.  This year the Redskins need to concentrate on their lines.

The offensive line this year proved to be one of the best in the league as the Redskins running attack was ranked eighth this past regular season.  The problem is that only one of them is under the age of 30.

Simply, if the Redskins do not get in place some replacements, then they will find the offensive line in shambles.

The defensive line also will need attention as well.  The reason is age in addition to some poor performance.

Performance wise none of the staters performed well, but defensive end Jason Taylor was hurt most of the season.

Only Kedric Golston will be under 30 this upcoming season.

So, it would be prudent for the Redskins to start addressing the future with the upcoming draft.
