Ochocinco Just Can’t Stop

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco headlines today as on a Baltimore, MD raido station he admitted he sent care packages to the Baltimore Ravens secondary and to linebackers Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs.

Simply, Ochocinco doesn’t know when to stop.

What Ochocinco did is just sheer stupidity as this is the Ravens.

The last time somone did something of the sorts Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall wound up done for the year after the Ravens got word of his remarks.

The Ravens are a prideful bunch and all the stunt did is give them extra motivation in stopping the Bengals.

In the end Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis and quarterback Carson Palmer need to show him where to draw the line with his antics before it really costs them.

Bengals Non Sell Out Baffling

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

The Cincinnati Bengals are a top of the Afc North with a 4-1 record.

Th( still has not translated to the box office as the Bengals are nowhere near selling it out.

It would be understanding if the Begals had a losing record.

However, they are looking great this year as their offense and defense is playing well.

On top of that they are coming off a huge win against the Baltimore Ravens from this past Sunday.

If this trend continues then Bengal fans need to start worrying as it is a clear sign that the city cannot or will not support its team anymore.

In the end Bengal fans better wake up, because this is after all what they been waiting for.

2009 Week Five Bengals Commentary

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

The Cincinnati Bengals stunned the football world as they came back from behind to beat the Baltimore Ravens.

What is amazing is the fact that the Bengals offense is 17th in the league in offense and that is without their top two tight ends who are on injured reserve and their top draft choice in left tackle Andre Smith has yet to play a down due to injury.

So, what is the key to their ressurgence?

That would be attributed to their running game as running back Cedric Benson is on pacer for his first 1,000 yards rushing season.

That means the defense is able to perform better as they are not always on the field anymore.

In the end as long as the Bengals stay healthy they have a good shot at winning the division.

Bengals Need Palmer’s A Game

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

The Cincinnati Bengals are embarking into the divisional part of their schedule this week against the Pittburgh Steelers.

If the Bengals are going to win they will need quarterback Carson Palmer to bring his best game.

The Cincinnati Enquirer talked with CBS analyst Phil Simms and stated that Palmer has not looked sharp in his first two starts.

The reason being that he missed preseason games and is dealing with an injury.

Palmer did improve last week as he threw for 185 yards with three touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions.

In week one Palmer threw for 247 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions.

In the end if the Bengals are even going to have a chance against the Steelers Palmer needs to eliminate the turnovers.

Bengals Aren’t that Bad

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Many National Football League experts are calling the Cincinnati Bengals a horrible team after their defeat to the Denver Broncos.

The reality is that they are a much better football team than they were in week one.

The Bengals lost to the Broncos not due to the fluke play near the end of the game, but due to the fact that Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer threw and interception that killed one drive and punter Kevin Huber fumbled the football on a field goal.

Also, the Denver Broncos are still a good offensive football team as they still have a ton of weapons and a decent quarterback.

In the end it is too early to rule out the Bengals as a playoff contender with quarterback Carson Palmer playing.

Can Palmer Last?

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer is finally returning to action after suffering an injury to his throwing elbow ligament.  The question going into this year for Palmer is can he last?

Palmer elected not to have surgery as he let it rest to see if it will heal on his own.

The results of this decision will not be known until the regular season is well underway.
Palmer’s injury to his elbow ligament is the second major ligament injury to him.

In the Wild Card round of the 2005 National Football League playoffs Palmer suffered a injury to his left knee, which tests later revealed a torn anteriot cruciate and medial collateral ligaments as well as damage to cartilage and his meniscus.

One can now conclude that Palmer’s body is prone to injury after excessive wear and tear.

When Palmer is healthy he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, which is proven by his statistics.

The thing is that when Palmer starts getting up there in football years he will start missing games to injury.

In the end it is up to the Cincinnati Bengals offensive line to limit the number of hits Palmer takes so that he can stay healthy longer.

Don’t Underestimate Ochocinco

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco received bad news yesterday as the National Football League stated that he can not update his twitter account during games.  However, they grossly underestimating Ochocinco.

Ochocinco earlier this week posted on his twitter account that he is going to update his account during games.

ProFootballTalk.com then reported on a email they received from NFL spokesman Greg Aiello reminded the site that players are not allowed to have hand held devices on the sideline or the field.

Thus thinking that this should stop it from ever beginning to be a problem.

The thing is that the league is underestimating Ochocinco’s ability to think up of a way to get arond the rule as he is notorius for all sorts of different touchdown dances.

There are two ideas that come to mind, but I am not going to state them.

The reason being the NFL will just get stupid an make up specific rules to ban the methods before they are even tried, so I am airing on the side of caution.

In the end even though they will ban Twitter out right the NFLPA will step in and sue the league as it is a clear violation of a person’s freedom of speech, along with not disturbing the game.

Bengals Passing Attack is Back

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

The Cincinnati Bengals passing game last year suffered tremendously as wide receiver Chad Ochocinco was distracted.  With Ochocinco’s mind not distracted the Bengals passing game is back.

Ochocinco last yearwas so distracted that he did not weight lift regularly, which was due to frustration over his repeated denied requests to be traded.

He has gotten over that and is already looking good in Organized Team Activities.

What is also helping is that wide receiver Chris Henry Has turned the corner in regards to his trouble making ways as he admitted he was sick and tired of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Now, Henry is spending his nights at home with his family, which is the right thing to do.

Henry is a tremendously talented and his new attitude is showing on the field in practice.

The Bengals did suffer one setback as they lost wide receiver TJ Houshmandzadeh to free agency, but they addressed that right away by signing former former New York Jets wide receiver Lavernanues Cole.

Also, the Bengals have a capable tight ends in Reggie Kelly and Ben Utecht.

Kelly tied his career high receptions mark of 31, which he set in 2000 with the Atlanata Falcons.

Utecht saw his number of receptions go down from when he was on the Indianapolis Colts, but is the more talented of the two as he caught 37 passes in 2006 and 31 passes in 2007 as the back up tight end on the Colts to Dallas Clarke.

The only question that remains with the Bengals is quarterback Carson Palmer’s elbow going to be okay as he avoided Tommy John surgery to repair the injury to the ligament in his throwing arm.

If he is okay then the Bengals are going to give the Pittsburgh Steelers a tough time winning the AFC Central Division.

Bengals Cutting Jones is Foolish

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

The Cincinnati Bengals the long awaited move of cutting offensive tackle Levi Jones.  Cutting Jones was simply foolish.

The Cincinnati Bengals already lost two starter to free agency in offensive tackle Stacy Andrews, as he joined his brother Shawn with the Philadelphia Eagles, and center Eric Ghiaciuc to the Kansas City Cheifs.

Now, with cutting Levi Jones the Bengals offensive line is seeming in shambles as they have a rookie starting at left tackle in Andre Smith, a fourth round pick from the 2008 National Football League Draft in Anthony Collins starting at right tackle, and a undrafted free agent from 2007 starting at center.

It would have been one thing if Jones was asking for more money, but that is not the case.  Prior to the 2006 season Jones signed a six year $40 million contract extension.

Jones was cut, because of his history of back and knee problems as he has only been available for 31 of 48 games after signing his contract extension.

The move by the Bengals was one of the stupidest things to do talent wise, and money wise long term.

New right tackle Anthony Collins was selected in the fourth round of the 2008 draft, which means his contract runs through the 2011 season.  So, if Collins starts all 16 games and earn some awards for his performance, then they will have a hold out on  their hand.

Base salary for Jones in 2010 would have been most likely around the five million dollar range as teams put guaranteed money in the beginning years of contracts.

In regards to a contract extension not only would they have to pay a base salary equal to Jones they would also have to pay Collins guaranteed money that equal to that.  That is due to the contracts signed this offseason by Carolina Panthers tackle Jordan Gross and Philadelphia Eagles Jason Peters.

So, what would have been the smart move?  That would have been keeping Jones at left tackle and playing rookie Andre Smith at right.  Then if Jones went down with an injury they could move Smith over to left and insert Collins at right.

However, the general manager of the Bengals is owner Mike Brown.  Brown took over the team in 1991 and since he has taken over the Bengals they are 101–186–1 with only one playoff appearance.

Nice going Brown you continue to cement your legacy as one of the most dumbest owner of all time.

Coles Addition Won’t Solve Bengal’s Problems

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

The Cincinnati Bengals struggled last year with the loss of quarterback Carson Palmer for most of the year.  Even with Palmer back and the signing of wide receiver Laveranues Coles the Bengals will still have problems.

The Bengals have one major problem with their team.  That being their defensive line is just horrible.

The Bengals defensve last year was ranked 21st against the run and 15th against the pass.  That states the Bengals have some talent at the linebacker and cornerback position.

They do need to adress their right tackle position, since they lost Stacy Andrews to free agency.  However, if the Bengals were to adress their defensive line they would easily be in the playoffs.
