Ryan an Inspiration to Everyone

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is already making headlines by trash talking about other AFC East opponents.  One piece of news that has been lost in all that has been the story that Ryan is a inspiration to everyone.

According to ESPN.com’s Tim Graham reports that NewYorkJets.com editor Randy Lange wrote broke that Ryan was diagnosed with Dyslexia a few years ago.

It is not uncommon for people to go undiagnosed as people will think that their problem is just something simple.

For Ryan to go years undiagnosed and to be successful at coaching in college and the NFL is an amazing accomplishment as it is a learning disability

Now, Ryan is aware of it he has learned how to cope with it and is growing leaps and bounds as he reads daily, improved his spelling and pronouncing names.

Jets players are already fired up from the trash talking that Ryan has been doing.

However, with this bit being revealed by himself to players they are truly going to be inspired, especially when the team is down.

Any win against the Jets this year will definitely have to be earned.

Jets Would Be Fools to Start Sanchez

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Last year the National Football League saw to rookie quarterback start from day one.  To do that with Sanchez would just be foolish.

The main reason that NFL fans saw Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco start as rookies is due to the fact that their team’s coaches knew that their teams could run the ball despite opponents game planning to take it away.

In the Jets case that will not be the case as the Jets were ninth in rushing, because teams were more worried about the passing game due to quarterback Brett Farve being traded from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets.

Previously, in 2007 season the Jets were ranked 19th, which if will be the case again this season, will ruin the career of Sanchez.

Also, the AFC East is one of the hardest divisions to play in especially with the fact that quarterbacks have to play against the New England Patriots twice a year.

With Bill Belichick being the head coach if the Patriots even starting quarterback have tough times against him.

Now, you want to start a rookie quarterback against him? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I hope you are prepared for a long day, because your team will be blown out.  The reason is the Belichick throws so many different things as quarterbacks.
Simply, quarterbacks in the AFC East as rookies should ride the pine.  That is unless there is an injury to the starter.

Clemens is the Right Call

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

The New York Jets created a quarterback controversy when they traded up to select quarterback Mark Sanchez.  The right move is to give quarterback Kellen Clemens the starting job.

In the past quarterbacks as rookies were backups for a year to learn the ins an outs of the National Football League.

However, that changed in 2004 when the Pittsburgh Steelers were forced to use then rookie quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.  He went on to have a stellar rookie year to only fall short of leading them to the Superbowl.

Then last year two more rookie quarterbacks started all sixteen games last season in Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.

The thing is, which was first pointed out by ESPN radio’s Colin Cowherd, that all three quarterbacks had solid offensive lines with good running games.  That allowed their teams not to have to rely much on the quarterbacks.

Also, which is an original point, all three are highly intelligent individuals with good memorization skills.

Even in high school is takes a lot of work to memorize what you have to do on certain plays for an offensive or defensive lineman.  For a quarterback it is even much harder, because they have to remember what each player running a route is doing.

Also, quarterbacks have to memorize blitzes that teams use a lot, and what are the telling signs that they are running that certain play.

Clemens on the other hand is going into his fourth season with the Jets, which is the same number of seasons that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has been with the team.

That means Clemens should know the playbook like the back of his hand.  As well as what the other teams in the AFC East like to do on defense, because the coach staffs for their opponents are the same as last year.

Simply, the Jets do not have to rush Sanchez along into the starting role and they should not with one of the NFL’s all time best defensive minds in New Englad Patriots head coach Bill Belichick being in the division.

New York Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan Will Get a Rude Awakening

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Newly appointed New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has already brought some of the legacy of the Chicago Bears 46 defense by hiring former Chicago Bears safety Doug Plank, which was invented by Rex’s dad former Bears defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan.  The thing is that if the Jets are thinking of bringing back the 46 defense they are wrong if they think it is going to work.

Many people do not know is that the 46 defense was already tried in the modern era.  That person being New Orleans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

When Williams first came to Buffalo he brought the scheme with him.  He knew the details of the scheme, because he worked under Buddy Ryan when he was the defensive coordinator of the Houston Oilers, which are now the Tennessee Titans.

Williams defense did not work very well as the Bills were ranked  21st in 2001 and 15th in 2002.  Only when the Bills signed free agent defensive tackle Sam Adams in the offseason before the 2003 season did the Bills finally crack the top five in defenses being ranked second overall that year.

The point is that the 46 defense requires two solid defensive tackles.  The Jets do not have that as they been playing a 3-4 defense, which only has one defensive tackle.
If the Jets try to run this type of defense it will take a couple of years before the Jets get back to the playoffs, because without two solid defensive tackles in this scheme the defense will cost them games.

Things getting ugly for the Jets

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

The New York Jets were the toast of the league half way through the regular season, and then the wheels fell off the bus.  Now, it looks like the New York media is starting to make things ugly for the Jets.

The media is questioning two things about the Jets.  First, that if there is something wrong with the shoulder of Brett Farve.  Secondly, if head coach Eric Mangini, and general manager Mike Tannenbaum will be back next year for the team.

Farve has seemed to have lost strength in his arm, and when asked about it has not denied that notion at all.  He went on to stated that if there is something wrong with it, then it would be taken care of in the offseason.

That is the problem with Farve.  He is stubborn, and bullheaded.  Instead of finding out what is wrong, and then getting it taken care of he put things off till the offseason.

The reason for that is he simply does not want to end his consecutive game streak.  That clearly shows his true colors.

Owner Woody Johnson stated last March that both Mangini, and Tannenbaum will be back for 2009.  The reason being that he believes it takes tim to rebuild a team.

That notion was thrown out the window when the Jets blew a lot of money in free agency last year.  They are a win now team, and looks like they will most likely miss the playoffs.

It will take a miracle for them to get in.  The Jets are beat up, and go up against their division rival Miami Dolphins, which will be a hard game to win with the way they are playing.

The media is right if the Jets do not make the playoffs, then both Mangini, and Tannenbaum, should be fired.

However, the owner is remaining silent for now, but that will not remain for long if the Jets do not make it.

Jets have an easy road to take division

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

The New York Jets win over the Tennessee Titans may have just locked up the AFC East division.  That is due to the fact that they have a pretty darn easy schedule the rest of the way.

Of the remaining games the Jets have the toughest opponents are the Buffalo Bills, and the Miami Dolphins.  Their other three opponents are the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, and the Seattle Seahawks.

The only thing that could prevent them from locking up the division is injury to starters, or their own stupidity.  Something that they did not lack early on in the season.

The key game for the Jets will be against the Bills.  If they win the next two games the Jets could wrap up the division with a win against the Bills. A first round by for the playoffs could go all the way to the end as the Pittsburgh Steelers have the same record at 8-3.

This week’s game looks no different than previous two games as the Broncos defense is horrible, and the Jets should be able to rack up the points on them.  That means another win for the Jets.

Move for Farve does not make a big difference

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

The New York Jets made the biggest noise of the offseason by trading for quarterback Brett Farve.  After six weeks the trade made no big difference in the passing game of the Jets.

Last year the Jets averaged 188 yards passing per a game.  This year they are averaging 204 yards per a game.  The difference of 16 yards.

A team cannot just become a great team overnight.  Eventhough, perception is that when a team goes from 6-10 one year to 10-6 the next year that is the case.

What happens is that simply teams that are bad have players that grow up.  Which, is the case with the Buffalo Bills.

For the Jets, they have nothing outside of Brett Farve in the passing game.  They did spend a first round draft pick on tight end Dustin Keller, but it will take a while for him to develop.

Their wide recievers are okay, but not great.  That is what they ultimately lack at this point on the offense.

Every team needs a wide receiver, that no matter if he looks like he is double teamed, still get open.  For great wide receivers know what to do to get open if they are double teamed.

Yes, Farve is learning a whole new offense, but if the Jets are going to have any chance of making the playoffs next year they will definately need to start aquiring weapons for the offense.

Jets shoot themselves in the foot

Friday, August 8th, 2008

The Miami Dolphins were in need of a veteran to step in, while rookie Chad Henne and second year quarterback John Beck learned the nuiances of the National Football League.  Now, they are able to do that, while also making life for the New York Jets miserable.

The Miami Dolphins have signed Pennington to a two year deal, according to Jay Glazer of Fox.  Which, also shows how full of themselves the Jets have become.

Jet fans better come back to reality very quickly.  Even with Brett Farve the Jets will struggle to make the playoffs.

The Jets are not in a easy division in the AFC East.

It is already dominated by the New England Patriots.  So, do not expect any wins from there.

The Bills have made huge upgrades to their defense, and if Jason Peters gets in any time soon, could surprise some people on offense.

Now, just when Jets fans thought that the Dolphins would be a cake walk, well they better think again.  Thanks to signing the Miami defense knows every single nook and cranny of the offense.

Even with the Dolphins being a talent depleted team if the Dolphins pounce on something they recognize from Penningtons information deep in Jets territory that means points.

Also, people need to remember that Farve is a gunslinger, and will take chances.  So, expect the old Farve of two and three years ago to revet its ugly head.   You can thank that to a new offense, and not as good talent.

The big thing out of this is the decision by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum to just out right cut Pennington.  Never in my life have I ever heard a former start that lost his job not get shopped before he got cut.

They could have most likely still got a second day pick out of him.  Along, with the ability to decide where he will play next year, so that it will not come back to haunt them.

In the end the move of out right cutting Pennington will cost both head coach Eric Mangini, and his job.

Smooth move Tannenbaum.  In the words of Butthead, ” Huh huh you dumbass.”

Not even a game played Keller is a playmaker

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

There is one thing that many people need to remember about training camp is that it is nothing more than practice, and those who look good in practice might not be as good against competition.  That goes for New York Jets rookie tight end Dustin Keller, who SI.com’s Don Banks dubbed a playmaker.

I have personally been on teams in high school that practiced horrible, but when it came to game day we were hard to beat.  Also, I have personally seen weeks that were great, but when it came to the game we lost.

The reason is competition, because we as humans learn to adjust to how things are going.  The same goes for football players in the National Football League.

It goes the same way for all rookies.  They do good for a couple of games, then fade away for a while, due to teams adjusting to them.

The same will go for Keller, eventually.  Keller will do good in the first couple of games of the regular season, and then will fade away.

Okay right now name the starting wide receivers for the Jets.  If you said Laveranues Coles and Jericho Cotchery.  Both are okay, but are not great.

On top of that the Jets quarterback situation is horrible.  On one hand you have Chad Pennington, who arm is shot due to injuries.  Then on the other you have Kellen Clemens who in his second year played ten games.

Simply, with out a great quarterback a wide receiver or tight end is useless.

So, for now just remember it is training camp, and the real talking is done in the regular season.
