Just Pathetic

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

The New York Jets took outside linebacker Vernon Gholston to be an impact player.

Gholston has been nothing but just plain pathetic.

According to ProFootballTalk.com, Gholston was hurt during a walkthrough in practice Wednesday.

That is just simply an indicator of how bad it has been.

In his defense this year he has started only three games.

Also, there is no reason why not to bring him in on obviius passing downs.

In the end the only true way to find out about Gholston is a bust I’d playing him.

Will Jets Find a Way to Recover

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

The New York Jets the last two weeks have suffered season ending injuries to key players.

The question now is can they find a way to replace them.

Two weeks ago the Jets lost nose tackle Kris Jenkins for the year with a torn anteroir cruciate ligament.

This past Sunday they lost running back Leon Wasgington with a broken leg.

Washington is easier to replace of the as the Jets still have Thomas Jones at running back.

However, Jenkins is much harder to replace as players like Jenkins are hard to find.

That means teams are going to be able to run more, which means less time to score for the Jets.

In the end the Jets are now more dependent on quarterback Mark Sanchez to get to the playoffs and with him being a rookie that is an impossible task as he will make mistakes.

Will Jenkins be the Same

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

The New York Jets learned earlier this week that nose tackle Kris Jenkins is out for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

The question is now will Jenkins ever be the same?

The big factor in Jenkins return will be how bad the tear is as the heavier a person is the more damage is done.

Also, in 2005 he tore the ACL in his right knee, which means that the big man is riding on two bad wheels.

Doctors did say he will be ready for next year, but with Jenkins tearing ligaments in both knees the Jets need to start planning on a replacement for Jenkins as another major knee injury will be around the corner.

In the end with Jenkins being on the wrong side of 30 Jenkins career will be coming to a close sooner than he will want.

Things Just got Worst for Jets

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

The New York Jets are in a horrib le three game skid where they saw their rookie starting quarterback Mark Sanchez throw five interceptions.

Just when you think things couldn’t get worst for the Jets they did as nose tackle Kris Jenkins is out for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

That is huge for the Jets as he anchors the middle of that line, which allows the linebackes to roam freely.

Without Jenkins teams will now just have to single team the nose tackle and immediately be able to block the linebackers.

That should open the running game more for other teams.

With the Jets inability to stop the run the Jets will get behind quicker, thus having to rely on Sanchez more,

If that happens the Jets will lose a lot of games as rookie quarterbacks have poor jusgement at times due to a lack of experience with coverages.

In the end the Jets will miss the playoffs.

Jets get Figured Out

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

The New York Jets defense looked like it was going ti be one if the National Football Leagues best.

Since then teams have figured out what they are doing.

The Jets lost Monday night as the defense gave up a last minute touchdown.

Elite defenses do not give up 31 pointd to a 1-3 football team with a rookie quarterback.

Simply, the Jets have only one elite player in nose tackle Chris Jenkins.

The problem for the Jets is that outside linebacker Vernon Gholston has not lived up to the hype that surrounded him out of college.

In the end if players like Gholston and others along the defensive line do not pick up their game they will miss the playoffs.

Sanchez Will be Brought to Earth

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is looking like the next coming of Joe Namath with his performances in the first three weeks of the regular season.

With what the Newark Star-Ledger is reporting, along with the Jets facing the New Orleans Saints this week, Sanchez is going to brought down to earth this week.

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, head coach Rex Ryan has asked Sanchez to be more careful with the football as he was careless last week.

The Saints’ defense is vastly improved as new defensive coordinator is getting the most out of his unit as they are ranked 10th in the league going into week four compared to their 23rd ranking last year.

Good defensive coordinators pressure young quarterbacks with blitzes to force them to make a quick decision that can be wrong sometimes due to lack of experience.

In the end teams will have a game plan on how to defeat Sanchez after this week.

Jets Receiver Learns a Lesson

Monday, September 28th, 2009

With Twitter becoming such a hot commodity some players are learning the dangers of it.

One of those players is New York Jets wide receiver David Clowney.

Clowney got benched by Jets head coach Rex Ryan for complaining about not getting enough passes in the Jets win over the New England Patriots.

Yes, we are in a country where people can voice their displeasure about whatever they want.

The way he went about it was completely wrong.

He first should have went to the coaches.

Then if his request goes on deaf ears then he can go public.

In the end Clowney learned a hard lesson.

Can Sanchez Withstand the Heat

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez looked like the second coming of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana.

The question is can Sanchez withstand all the blitzes that teams will be bringing his way now?

Sanchez faces already a defining moment in his career the next couple of weeks as the Jets face four tough defenses the next month in the New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, and Miami Dolphins.

With one game of footage on Sanchez teams will now start to dissect his strength and weaknesses.

Also, teams will disguise coverages, which will definitely come from the Patriots and their standing defense, that can completely fool a young quarterback.

Teams will game plan to take away the Jets running game as it is their strength, thus forcing Sanchez to beat them.

In the end Sanchez may look good right now, but a tough period of time is on the horizon.

NY Jets Media on Cloud Nine

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

After one preseason game the New York media was drooling over New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Well we like to interrupt this butt kissing session with a dose of reality that being it is one freaking preseason game!

The fact of the matter is that it is preseason and in means nothing, especially with it being against the Saint Louis Rams backups.
When former Bills quarterback JP Losman took the field in a home preseason game against third stringers he looked fantastic and many Bills fans, including myself thought it could be the start of something special.

The thing is defenses in the preseason just work on perfecting technique and the execution of their base plays.

Complex disguised blitzes are not used until the regular season to give them an advantage on offenses.

In the end Jets media members an fans can start rejoicing when the regular season hits and Sanchez plays well.

Jets Just don’t Learn

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

The New York Jets year after year keep pouring money at free agents when time after time theses signings do not get them to the playoffs.

The Jets last year threw money at guard Alan Faneca, offensive tackle Damien Woody, and outside linebacker Calvin Pace.

This year the names are linebacker Bart Scott, signed safety Jim Leonhard, and traded for cornerback Lito Sheppard.

The thing is that you do not build a football team that way, especially when one of your division rivals is the New England Patriots.

The Patriots time and time again are always replacing players through the draft and very rarely through free agency.

In the end if the Jets are ever going to get back to prominence owner Woody Johnson needs to realize that getting there is building through the draft.
