Cable should stay on as head coach

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

The Oakland Raiders made Tom Cable the interim head coach after week four of the regular season.  Looking back on the job he did Cable should stay on as head coach.

Cable did a great job in his first season as head coach.  Cable led the team to a 4-8 record in the twelve games he was head coach.

The more important aspect of the job he did is near the end of the season.  Cable got the Raiders to end the season on a two game win streak beating the Houston Texans, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Also, another big reason to keep him on is that he got quarterback JaMarcus Russell playing well at the end of the season for the team’s final three games.

The biggest game is the game against the New Englad Patriots.  Russell against the Patriots threw for 242 yards passing, with two touchdowns, and one interception.

Just the mere fact that Cable got Russell to play well against the Patriots should get him the job.  For Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has made a fool of the likes of Peyton Manning.

The Raiders under Cable have a chance of returning to glory.  Now, it is up to Davis, and the front office to get Cable some talent.

Things just get worst for the Raiders

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

The Oakland Raiders have become the laughing stock of the National Football League.  Just when you think things cannot get worst for the Raiders Raiders learned that wide receiver Javon Walker is done for the year.

Walker has fallen far from his breakout season with the Green Bay Packers.  Now, all that remains is a mentally, and physically, broken down person.

Walker has only 15 catches for 196 yards receiving, and one touchdown.  After getting a huge contract in the offseason Walker has been nothing but another bad deal done by the Raiders.

Also, this week head coach Tom Cable releived offensive coordinator Greg Knapp of play calling duties.  That means for Cable he is the head who is calling the offensive play calls, and the offensive line blocking scheme.

The thing is that there are still seven games to go in the season, and who knows what is going to happen between now and then.

The only thing is that for sure is no coach is wanting to go coach there, and we might even see a top prosepect for the 2009 NFL draft say that he refuses to play for the Raiders.

Davis’s story blown out of water

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis gave a compelling story at a press conference to announce the firing of former head coach Lane Kiffin.  Not even a week later Davis’s story already looks fradulent.

Davis in his press conference stated that Kiffin wanted his father Monte Kiffin, current Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator, to run the Raiders defense.  Apparently, that is not true according to Buccaneers general manger Bruce Allen.

“Monte kept me informed of everything, and Monte wasn’t going to the Raiders,” said Allen to Pewter Report.com.

What it shows is that Davis needs to do is clean out his front office.  The reason being is that someone is feeding him information that is completely false.
In the end Davis again looks like a senile old man that is out of touch with reality.  The reality is that he needs to step aside, so someone capable can run it.

End of the line for Joesph

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

The Oakland Raiders took a chance on defensive tackle William Joeshph hoping that he would be able to turn around his career.  It looks like Joesphs career is possibly over after being cut by the Oakland Raiders.

Joesph was picked 25th overall in the first round of the 2003 National Football League draft, and only adds to the dissapointment of the draft.

Joesph has been a disappointment for sure.  His career season high total for sacks is two, and most solid defensive tackles can have anywheres from double to tripple that amount.   Also, his career season high total for tackles is 25, and again solid defensive tackles double that amount.

Only one time in five season with the Giants did he play a full 16 game schedule for the Giants, and that was in 2006.  Of those games Joesph only started three of them.

With Joesph not panning out the responsibilities of stopping the run game falls on Gerrard Warren.  Warren when healthy can be a force in the middle, but he missed four games last year to injury.

With an easier schdule, and some good moves to add talent to the defense, the Raiders could pull themselves out of the basement of the AFC West.

Raiders show they still are inept in the front office

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

The Oakland Raiders drafted running back Darren McFadden, thus making running back Lamont Jordan expendable.  Now, they once again show that they simply do not know how to run a front office.

According to Pro Football Talk.com, the Raiders have told Jordan not to report to training camp.  The thing is though they cannot do that, because Jordan is under contract, and still with the team.

When I read about this I could not help, but just laugh.  The reason being that recently retired quarterback Steve McNair won a grievance, when the Tennessee Titans barred him from using team facilities.

Seriouly, what are the Raiders going to do to the league?  Are they going to call in the fans that beat up a Miami Dolphin fan, and urinated on him, to intimidate the league.

How hard is it to  make 31 phone calls to see if anyone wants to trade for him.   Then if there is not any interest, then cut him.  How hard is that?

However, this is the Raiders we are talking about, and as of late it looks like everything they do has to be done in grand fashion.

Keep it up Al Davis.  The way you are going it looks like the next winning season for the Raiders will be when you are dead, unfortunately.

Raiders signing Walker already looks bad

Monday, June 16th, 2008

The Oakland Raiders signed wide receiver Javon Walker to a ridiculous contract near the start of free agency.  It has been only a couple of months, but it already looks like the signing was a bad one.

Walker was found laying on the streets of Las Vegas, NV unconscious, with a broken orbital fracture, according to Fox 5.  Common sense leads you to believe that he was in a fight.

The report states that Walker was seen saturday nite spraying a crowd of people with Dom Perignon Rose champagne.  Walker bought 15 bottles at the Tryst nite club.

The incident shows how desperate they are as an organization to win again.  They threw money at a player with a bad knee, and a troubled past, so that they can just win again.

The only way that the Raiders are going to get back to winning ways is with drafting well, and develop talent.

However, owner Al Davis is feeling the grasp of the Grim Reaper closing in on him, and knows time is running out.

The problem is that the Raiders did a bunch of bad deals at the start of free agency, and will be in salary cap jail for a long time to come.

So, look for the Raiders to be constant visitors to the top five of the National Football League draft for the near future.

Raiders get it done for once

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Last year the Oakland Raiders had a difficult time signing the first overall selection Jamarcus Russell to a contract.  This year the complete oppositr has happened.

Running back Darren McFadden, and the Raiders have come to an agreement.  That news by its self is amazing accomplishment, considering that Russell did not come to terms, until the regular season was under way.

The news is a positive sign that for once the organization is going into the right direction.  That is also an another amazing feat, since the moves this offseason made by the Raiders were not very good.

Now, the question will be how effective will McFadden be.  With him coming in this early I would not be surprised that he contends for rookie of the year.  Now, if the rest of the team was as good they would make the playoffs, but this is the Raiders were talking about.

Raiders could pay for not taking Dorsey

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

 http://boomp3.com/listen/efgq0a3/kk-raiders-may-first

The Oakland Raiders are predictable in one area, and that is the draft when it comes to players with speed.  So, the question is now will the passing up of Glenn Dorsey bite the Raiders in the end.

The Oakland Raiders just saw defensive tackle Warren Sapp retire. Still they passed on Dorsey to take running back Darren McFadden.

Why did they do such a thing?  First, owner Al Davis just loves speed, and that is something that McFadden posses.  Secondly, they are taking a gamble on defensive tackle William Joesph will stay healthy.

Considering what the New York Giants did to the New England Patriots in the Superbowl the pick is down right stupid.  It is why the Raiders are in the place they are.

That being Al Davis’s judgement of people, which is poor at best.  So, until Davis learns to hire people that are compitent then the Raiders will always be losers.

Raiders could be looking a little bit more sane after draft

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

I first off just want to appologize for not getting a post up yesterday.  The reason being that my son get really sick, and had a very rough nite.  Put it this way I had a little bit of cleaning up after him to do.  Now, to the story

The Oakland Raiders have been a team this offseason that has been making people wondering what they are doing over there in Oakland.  After their fourth overall pick they could be making a little bit of sense actually.

According to Pro Football Talk.com the Raiders will use their pick in the first round to take linebacker/defensive end Vernon Gholston.  The pick would solidify their defense even more with the pick, and be the incing on the cake for their offseason

In this offseason alone they traded for former Atlanta Falcon cornerback DeAngelo Hall.  Signed strong saftey Gibril Wilson, formerly a starter with the New York Giants.  They signed former Giant defensive tackle William Joesph; hoping he can stay healthy next to defensive tackle Tommy Kelly.  Whom they resigned to a huge contract.  Also, they signed defensive end Kalimba Edwards, who the Detroit Lions cut earlier in March.

Gholston has blazed up charts with great workouts.  The pick would make sense, because the Raiders have been mostly concentrating on building up the defense.  That is what you want to do first and foremost, especially the defensive line.

You can be successful with a rookie starting quarterback, which was proven by the Pittsburgh Steelers with quarterback Ben Rothlesburger at the helm.

However, you do need a solid defense if you are going to go that route.  The reason being that a rookie is going to make mistakes, and kill some drives.  If those drives are with good feild position then you can get a feild goal out of it, or at worst if you turn over the ball the opposition will not have good feild position.

It is hard to win with rookies if you have a bad offense.  The reason being that the offense would be always deep in thier own end, and its very rare for rookies to have long sustained drives, especially on bad teams.

In the end the Raiders may be over playing players, but it is on the defensive side of the ball.  If the Raiders are going to get back to the Super Bowl then that is where they have to start.

Radiers moves nothing more than smoke and mirrors

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

The Oakland Raiders have been a team that has been simply put a disaster, since going to the Super Bowl.  This offseason they have made several notable moves, but those moves have been nothing more than smoke and mirrors.

On the day free agency opened the moves started when they resigned defensive tackle Tommy Kelly receiving a monster contract, which length is seven years.  Kelly last year only played in seven games, and had only one sack.

On the same day they signed saftey Gibril Wilson to a six year deal.  Wilson played last year on the Super Bowl Champs New York Giants.  Obviously, Wislon is way hyped up, because of the Super Bowl win.

Then five days later they signed wide receiver Javon Walker.  Walker was cut by the Broncos, becuase of the emergence of wide receiver Brandon Marshall when Walker was hurt last year.

Also, that day they signed offensive tackle Kwame Harris to a three year deal.  in 2005 and 2006 he started all 32 games.  Last year he appeared on the game day roster in 12 games, but started in none of them.

They then added wide receiver Drew Carter two days ago.  Carter is going into his fifth year in the league, and had his best year last year with 39 catches.

Finally, yesterday the Raiders signed injury plagued defensive tackle William Joesph.  Joesph missed the entire season last year.

The moves are huge risks for the Raiders.  They are banking that these moves will pay huge dividends, eventhough most of them are castoffs.

However, this is what the Raiders have to do, since they are a disaster of a organization.  Top quality players are not going to go to a disaster of a team in free agency.  Free agents go to teams that have a chance of turning things around, and will pay them at the same time.

As long as Al Davis is running the team they most likely be a disaster.
