Just when you think nothing else could make you mad

Standard

Things for Buffalo Bills fans have not gone very well as they have not addressed the left tackle position in last month’s National Football League Draft or take a quarterback higher in the Draft.

So, just when you think there couldn’t be anything else the could tick you off Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushings enters the fold.

Last year as a rookie Cushings beat out Bills safety Jarius Byrd for defensive rookie of the year, but that should have never been the case as according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, via ProFootballTalk.com, Cushings has been suspended for the first four games of the 2010 season.

There were rumors of Cushings juicing prior to him entering the NFL, but those subsided after he passed a drug test.

However, what most likely happened is that Cushings probably had a system that allowed him to beat drug tests, but finally screwed up and was caught.

There is for every time a person is caught driving drunk the driver has driven on average a 100 times before drunk before getting caught.  The same can be said about Cushing as he has probably been doing it for a while now.

I never agreed with Cushings getting it in the first place as Byrd was dealing with a sports hernia most of the year.

In the end, players that get caught cheating should have awards striped.

Bills could still get a left tackle

Standard

Many Buffalo Bills fans were dissapointed when the Bills didn’t take a offensive tackle in the couple rounds of the National Football League Draft.

However, the Bills still could get a left tackle.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, via ProFootballTalk.com, the Bills apparently want Ravens offensive tackle Jared Gaither.

The hold up is probably compensation as the general manager Buddy Nix probably doen’t want to give up a lot for Gaither and the Ravens want a little bit more than what they are offering.

In the end, if the Bills really want him a trade should happen by the end of the month.

Nix already making his mark

Standard

Many Buffalo Bills fans for years have been wanting a real general manager ever since Tom Donahoe was fired.

Well Bills fans have that in Buddy Nix as he is clearly making his mark.

According to the Buffalo News, Nix added Darrell Moody, who was previously with the San Diego Chargers, to their scouting staff and promoted Matt Hand from BLESTO to an area scout. The reason being that Nix thought the scouting staff is light.

To be honest Nix brining over a scout from the Chargers isn’t surprising as there are probably scouts that sided with Nix and former Chargers head coach Marty Schottenhiemer when Schottenhiemer and general manager AJ Smith had their dispute.

However, real football guys know that in the National Football League the Draft is the single most important thing to a team’s success and the only way to find those gems is to have a big scouting staff to comb through the small schools.

In the end, it looks like the Bills are heading in the right direction.

New England and Food Council is doing some major damage control

Standard

When I usually open my email it mostly contains spam and advertising mail, but there was one that caught my eye.

It was from Rochelle Johnson with the subject Dairy Council statement re:  misunderstanding, there is more to the subject, but you people get the drift.

In it, as was reported on ProFootballTalk.com, that the New England Dairy and Food Council is taking responsibility for the misunderstanding that happened at Lebanon Middle School in Connecticut.

I will give them credit for going out of their way to make it clear to everyone that it was their fault.

However, an apology isn’t enough as the least they could do is go out and get some personally autographed photos of New England Patriots players.  As ProFootballTalk.com suggested, the smart move would be for the Patriots to step up and at least send one player like quarterback Tom Brady, Matt Light, or even former linebacker Teddy Bruschi.

In the end, a simple apology isn’t enough as these kids busted their butts to earn that prize.
