Colts fans send a clear message

Standard

The Indianapolis Colts were expected to win Superbowl XLIV by a good margin.

The message that Colts fans sent to the team when the Colts arrived back was loud and clear.

According to the Indianapolis Star,  only 11 Colts fans showed up to airport for when the team got back.

It is clear that fans are upset as after a season that the Colts were dominant the team has nothing to show for it except another division title.

They should be as they had a chance at an undefeated regular season, but Colts President Bill Polian squashed that idea.

In the end with Polian at the helm the Colts will never win another Superbowl.

Let the onslaught begin

Standard

The offseason in the National Football League starts officially today.

That means an onslaught of player cuts are coming from football teams.

Today is the day where many veteran players are told thanks for your service, but due to your salary, your decline in performance, and salary cap space your services are no longer needed.

It is a shame that many veterans just don’t realize that you only get paid for the way you play not for who you are or what you meant to this team in the past.

If players realized this there would be more players retiring with their football teams.

However, that is not the case and it is sad to see a veteran leave, but that is the way it is in the National Football League.

In the end until the NFL allows a veteran player to be exempt from the salary cap this is just the way it is going to be.

Superbowl halftime needs to be shortened

Standard

I missed most of the first half of the Superbowl and the half time show due to me falling asleep when putting the kids to bed, but I was shocked to hear who long half time was when I read ProFootballtalk.com this morning.

The National Football League definitely needs to shorten half time as 31 minutes is way too long.

Normally, halftime is 12 minutes for a regular season game and the playoffs.

That is all it should be as these bands don’t need huge extravagant sets that take time to set up.

The problem is that players know how to keep themselves loose and ready to go for the second half with 12  minutes.

When you throw 31 minutes at a player it becomes a problem as players have never encountered that long of a halftime.

In the end a halftime show should never affect the outcome of a game the way it did in Superbowl XLIV, because everyone will now wonder what would of happened if Freeney’s ankle didn’t stiffen up.

A bitter pill for Bills fans

Standard

The New Orleans Saints were led to victory in Superbowl XLIV by quarterback Drew Brees.

Just his name is a bitter pill for Buffalo Bills fans.

It was revealed earlier this year by Peter King of SI.com that current New Orleans Saints head coach Gregg Williams wanted to draft Brees in 2001.

Also, the Bills had another shot at Brees in 2004 when he became an unrestricted free agent.

That means in 2004 there were four franchise quarterbacks available in Brees through free agency and quarterbacks Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers, and Ben Roethlisberger in the National Football League Draft.

The Bills instead decided to trade up for the one quarterback that wasn’t a franchise quarterback in JP Losman.

In the end Bills fans are left wondering if that would be them up there if they gotten one of the four quarterbacks in 2004.
