Rest in Peace Walter

As I usually do I check ProFootballTalk.com several times a day and just about ten minutes ago it hit me.

Yesterday was the 10 year anniversary of the death of Walter Peyton.

I first learned about Peyton from NFL Films’s NFL’s greatest hits that my father got through his subscription to Sports Illustrated.

When seeing the highlights of Peyton running the football I was just mesmerized.

There he was juking making people miss, and then all of a sudden bam he would lower his shoulder and run right over the defender.

Peyton revolutionized how running backs attacked the goal line as he would dive over the offensive line.

In recent years it has become a lost art that retired players who are coaches now need to remind their running backs to use.
Peyton gave it his all as he never went out of bounds and never went down without a fight.

In the end Peyton’s legacy will never be forgotten.
