In the last Collective Bargaining Agreement National Football League owners caved into demands from the NFLPA to keep the peace.

However, sine then NFL owner’s message has been difference and that message has been heard loud and clear from the players.

According to ProFootballTalk.com, in a conference call with reporter National Football League Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith stated that the goal for the players is to get a deal done by the end of January 2010.

In other words Smith has realized that the majority of owners will not get into a bidding war on free agents in an uncapped year as the real way to build a winner is through the NFL Draft.

Also, Smith has realized that the majority of players who will be free agents will make about half of what they were last year.

For example, vested vetrans that have accumilated a certain amount of years can have a certain minimum that owners can pay no lower than.

Without those restraints owners will undoubtedly halve those salaries in half, along with other mimimums and lower roster players salary.

In the end simply the NFLPA is going to get bent for the scam it pulled several years ago.
