2009 Week Eight Preview
Saturday, October 31st, 2009Denver Broncos at Baltimore Ravens:
Broncos: Defensively, stop the Ravens running game and then pressure Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco into mistakes as he is still only in his second year.
Offensively, establish the run and Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton cannot make many turnover the football.
Ravens: Defensively, they need to stop the run as the Broncos running game has always been one of the best and then force Orton into mistakes.
Offensively, they need to establish the run and then use play action to open the passing game.
Houston Texans at Buffalo Bills:
Texans: Offensively, Just keep running the football as the Bills run defense is last in the league.
Defensively, stop the Bills running game and then get pressure on quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick who is starting this week.
Bills: Defensively, they need to find a way to stop the Texans passing game.
Offensively, the Bills need to get the running game going. Also, Fitzpatrick has to be more accurate as a lot of his throws were off the mark.
Cleveland Browns at Chicago Bears:
Browns: Defensively, don’t let the Bears establish the run and don’t let Bears quarterback Jay Cutler to get into a rhythm.
Offensively, try to establish either the running game or passing game.
Bears: The Browns are so bad that as long as they play hard on both sides of the football they should win.
Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys:
Seahawks: The offense needs to find a way to protect quarterback Matt Hasselbeck as well as establish the run.
Defensively, they need to stop the running game and force Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo into mistakes.
Cowboys: The defense needs to stop the run and get to the quarterback.
Offensively, they need to run the football and Romo needs to play a clean game.
Miami Dolphins at New York Jets:
Dolphins: The defense needs to make rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez beat them by taking away the running game.
Offensively, establish the run and quarterback Chad Henne needs to make as few mistakes as possible.
San Francisco 49ers at Indianapolis Colts:
49ers: Defensively, get pressure on quarterback Peyton Manning while providing solid coverage at the same time.
Offensively, get the running game going and quarterback Alex Smith needs to play up to his level of talent.
Colts: Defensively, take the running game away and get pressure on quarterback.
Offensively, do not turn over the football.
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles:
Giants: Offensively, they need to establish the run and then protect quarterback Eli Manning as his foot injury will get worst if he has to move around more often.
Defensively, get pressure on quarterback Donovan McNabb as more hits and pressure on will rattle him and force him into make some mistakes as he will throw the ball as soon as possible to protect his ribs.
Saint Louis Rams at Detroit Lions:
Rams: Offensively, with the passing game being the weaker part of the Rams offense they need to find away to establish the pass.
Defensively, the cannot let the Lions offense get into a rhythm as once they do they will be hard to stop.
Lions: Defensively, all they need to do is stop the run and knock around Saints quarterback Marc Bulger can be rattled.
Offensively, get either the pass or running game going then they can get the other going.
Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers:
Raiders: Offensively, quarterback Jamarcus Russell needs to get his game together and they need to take advantage of the run defense of the Chargers as it was weakened by the loss of Jamal Williams for the year.
Defensively, stop quarterback Phillip Rivers as he has been a monster.
Chargers: Offensively, figure out how to get the running game going.
Defensively, stop the run and then pressure Russell.
Jaacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans:
Jaguars: Defensively, stop the running game and contain quarterback Vince Young to the pocket.
Offensively, take advantage of the Titans pass defense as it has been bad.
Titans: Offensively, get the running game going and Young must make good decisions.
Defensively, find a way to defend the passing game.
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers:
Vikings: Defensively, they need to win the battle for the line of scrimmage.
Offensively, quarterback Brett Farve must not turnover the football.
Packers: Offensively, the offensive line needs to look good.
Defensively, stop the run and make Farve beat you.
Carolina Pathers at Arizona Cardinals
Panthers: Offensively, quarterback Jake Delhomme cannot turnover the football and find a way to run the football.
Defensively, get pressure one Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner.
Cardinals: Offensively,get the running game going to limit the Panther’s scoring chances and force Delhomme to air out the football.
Defensively, don’t let the Panthers get the run going.
Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints:
Falcons: Defensively, find a way to stop the run while limiting the passing game, and not blitz so often.
Offensively, keep playing their own style of football as getting into a shootout will lose them the game.
Saints: Defensively, stop running game and force Ryan to beat you as he will make mistakes being a second year quarterback.
Offensively, just keep playing their own game.
