Can Manning Win One More?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning has already had a story book National Football League career.

With Manning getting into the later part of his career just how many more Superbowls can Manning win?

Manning already has one Superbowl under his belt as he led the Colts to it in 2006.

The problem with the Colts is that the defense has always been the weak unit.

For years the Colts did not have a good set of defensive tackles, which allowed teams to run the ball and keep the Colts offense off the field.

Only this past season did the Colts finally take a defensive tackle within the first three round of the National Football League Draft as they took defensive tackle Fili Moala in the second round.

The other big problem is that strong safety Bob Sanders, who is an integral part of the defense, is always hurt.

In the end most likely Manning will never win another Superbowl before his career ends.

Haynesworth Departure isn’t the Problem

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Many people in the media are blaming the departure of defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth for the Tennessee Titans problems on defense.

With the run defense current ranking Haynesworth isn’t the problem.

Going into their week four game against the Jacksonville Jaguars the Titans are ranked second in the National Football League in run defense.

The Titans are only giving up 60.7 yards total in regards to the running game.

However, the Titans defense is giving up 274.7 yards passing, which is ranked 29th.

So, what is the problem with the pass defense?

The problem is that defensive ends Kyle Vanden Bosch and Jevon Kearse through three games have combined for only one sack.

In the end once the Titans find a way to put more pressure on the quarterback they should be fine.

Could this be the Year?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

The New Orleans Saints have had an outstanding passing game since they signed quarterback Drew Brees in free agency.

With the running game and defense looking good 2009 is starting to look like the year that the Saints make it to the Superbowl.

Last week the Buffalo Bills held Brees in check, but countered that with their running game as they made enough plays to stay on the field and eventually wear out the defense.

The more important aspect to come out of last weeks game for the Saints was the fact that their defense is starting to take form as they held the Bills to 243 yards of total offense.

Now, with the offense and defense taking both taking for the Saints ar now a Superbowl contender.

In the end the only thing they need to worry about to the end of the season is injuries.

Will Flacco Get Hoodied?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Baltimore Ravens second year quarterback Joe Flacco will go up against the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick.

With the impact that Flacco has had in the first two games one has to wonder does he have it to figure out Belichick’s defense?

Young quarterbacks usually get eaten alive by Belichicks complex disguised coverages.

However, Flacco is not your usual young quarterback with growing pains as in the first three games of the year Flacco has thrown for 839 yards passing with 6 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Also, Flacco in two of those games threw for over 300 yards passing, which is elite level quarterbacking.

With the Patriots jettisoning several veteran players this could be the year that proves it wasn’t all Belichick on the defense.

In the end Flacco has what it takes to beat Belichick he is just going to have to work his butt off for it.

Texans Could Make History

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

The AFC South for the first time in many years looks to be wide open.

That means the Houston Texans have their best chance ever at winning the division.

The Texans offensively are one of the most dangerous teams to face with the talent they have on that side of the football.

The defense though is their problem as they from time to time give up the big play.

However, the offense is so good that they compensate for this by getting in shoot outs from time to time.

Their biggest problem is keeping quarterback Matt Schaub healthy as in his first two years he missed four games each year to knee sprain.

In the end if the Texans keep Schaub healthy they have.a great chance at.the post season.

Delhomme Starting Isn’t Surprising

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme has gotten off to a rough start to the 2009 season.

It is not suprising though that Delhomme isn’t the starter.

Delhomme earlier this decade led the Panthers to an appeaeance to the Superbowl.

The fact of the matter is that the Panthers have another threat in the passing game to complement wide receiver Steve Smith.

That means Delhomme is right now trying to make plays out of things that are not there.

You cannot fault Delhomme for that as if he had another legitament wide receiver the Panthers passing game wouldn’t be as bad.

In the end if dissapointing wide receiver doesn’t get it soon it will be a long year for the Panthers offensively.

NFL Drops the Ball

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

The National Football League caught Dallas Cowboys left tackle Flozell Adams for the third time leg whipping a defensive end.

The NFL dropped the ball as they only fined Adams a measely $7,500 for it.

That is down right appaulling as in week two a leg whip hurt New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck.

The fine will do nothing as Adams simply doesn’t care as long as the leg whip doesn’t get penalized.

In the end something will only be done when a player breaks his neck due to the trip.

Brady’s Chance for Redemption

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady looked like a disaster in week two of the regular season against the New York Jets.

With the Baltimore Ravens coming to town Brady gets another chance to prove that he is all the way back mentally from his knee injury.

The Ravens may have lost inside linebacker Bart Scott to free agency and their defensive coordinator for a head coaching job, but their defense is still in the top ten of defenses as they are currently ranked seventh.

Brady knows they he will be getting a lot of pressure as the New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan was previously the Ravens defensive coordinator.

That means Brady will see a lot of similar things that he saw in the game against the Jets.

The thing is though they have a great offense to go with their defense as the Ravens are averaging 430.3 yards a game.

If the Patriots get behind Brady is going to have to throw the football moreĀ  and that means there are going to be a lot more chances for the Ravens to create a turnover, which the Ravens are third in the league with six interceptions.

In the end if Brady doesn’t prove that in this game that he is back completely mentally he most likely never will.

Will Farve Finally get Revenge?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Farve finally gets to play the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football, which is a day he has been waiting for since the day he got traded last year.

Now, the question is will he get his revenge on the team that he spent the duration of his career with?

The Vikings with Farve are looking like the team to beat as they already have a great defense and running game led by running back Adrian Peterson.

With Farve they now have a passing game to go with the running game, which makes them not only a playoff contender, but also a Superbowl contender.

That is all premised on the fact he can stay healthy.

The thing is the key to Sunday’s game will not be Farve, but the battle in the trenches with both teams offensive and defensive lines.

The Vikings have the best defensive front four in all of the National Football League with defensive tackles Kevin and Pat Williams and defensive ends Jared Allen and Ray Edwards.

On the other side the Packer have to find away to stop Peterson as he has been looking like the second coming off former Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton.

In the end this is going to be one knock out drag out fight that nobody is going to want to miss.

Players can Get Around Interviews

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

According to a recent interview with Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens on the Two Live Stews show National Football League spokesman Greg Aiello informed Owens that he has to do interviews.

There is a way though that will eventually stop the media making requests for you.

The National Football League mandates in the players policy manual that playes make themselves available to the media during interviews.

However, there is most likely nothing in the manual about what a player has to say to the media, because doing so would impede on a individual’s Freedom of Speech.

So, all that Owens has to say is no comment to whatever question that the media asks of him.

Eventually, the members of the media will just give up and go somewhere else for comments.

In the end the NFL is fighting a losing battle, because players like Owens always thinks up something else that they have no rules on.
