Many people within the media talk about former Buffalo Bills defensive end Bruce Smith’s statistics and talent.

What you do not hear about is how Smith revolutionized the defensive end position all together.

When Smith came into the league weight lifting was in its infancy with the National Football League and many defensive ends, which included Hall of Famer Reggie White, was not in the greatest shape.

Actually, you can say many of them looked over weight.

When Smith cut down his body fat by watching what he ate and weight lifting he took the league by storm.

Now, all defensive ends have very little body fat to try and emulate Smith’s pass rushing skills as he recorded most of his sacks in the Bills 3-4 defense, which is much harder for a defensive end to do versus a 43 defense.

In the end the greatest player at a position is the one that revolutionizes a position.
