Goodell Needs to Make a Change

National Football League coaches work a ridiculous amount of hours per a day as it can get up to 18 hours during the season.  NFL commissioner Roger Goodell needs to changes this.

Many families of NFL head coaches struggle with their fathers being gone all day, thus missing any games or events that their children play in.

That became evident with an article on ProFootballTalk.com wrote that an NFL insider wonders if New Orleans head coach Sean Payton is fully focused on football.

The thinking is garbage as head coaches do not need to be in the office all day and for evidence of that look no further than the current NCAA Mid-American Confernce Champions UB Bulls.

Head coach Turner Gill actually limits the amount of time him and his coaches spend in the office and still they won their own conference championship.

The unfortunate thing is that change to this is not going to come from the coaches themselves, which was proven by the suicide of Tony Dungy’s son.

Even though his suicide was a clear message that coaches are working way too long still no change has come.

So, then it is up to Goodell to change that and to limit the number of hours that they can work to 12.

In Phil Simms book Sunday morning quarterback he himself stated that he would only work till about six P.M. and get home around seven P.M.

Then when he came home he made a habit that once he is home it was all about his family.

In the end it does not matter what time of the year it is NFL head coaches deserve to have a life outside of football, because after all we are human, have other interests, and families that need attention like anything else to survive.
