The Des Moines Iowa Register reports that the head coach of Aplington-Parkersburg High School football head coach Ed Thomas died from gun shot wounds he suffered earlier Wednesday by a former player.  Thomas had coached several current National Football League players.

The news is sad to hear as all of us former football players no matter if it is high school college or the pros are one big family.  There are times where all football players hate a coach, because of his coaching style, but for this to happen is mind blowing and raises a lot of questions.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that the interest that was mentioned in Peter King of Si.com’s Monday Morning Quarterback column for free agent linebacker Derrick Brooks is only moderate as they have yet to extend him an offer.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Baltimore Ravens fans that paid for personal seat license when the team moved from Cleveland are making a ton of money as they sell them to other fans.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal, via ProFootballTalk.com, reports that Fed Ex CEO Fred Smith rebuffs an earlier report that he is interested in buying the Saint Louis Rams.

ProFootballTalk.com reports that Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Dennis Northcut is available via a trade.  Obviously, a trade will never happen as teams will wait for him to be cut.

Newark Star Leder writer Mike Garafolo announces on his tweeter page that the New York Giants signed third round pick wide receiver Ramses Barden and fifth round pick quarterback Rhett Bomar.
