Cowboys getting what they deserveThe Dallas Cowboys missed the playoffs after owner Jerry Jones guaranteed during the regular season that they wouldn’t miss it. The Cowboys simply got what they deserved.
Jones himself stated to Sport Illustrated.com writer Peter King that they do not need to spend a lot of money to win the Superbowl. Afterall they won their second Superbowl in the 1990’s with one of the lowest payrolls in the league.
Now, Jones has spent money like crazy, especially on the offensive side of the ball. In just the past year alone the Cowboys gave huge contracts to wide receivers Terrell Owens and Roy Williams, starting offensive left tackle Flozell Adams, running back Marion Barber, and cornerback Terrence Newman.
Last year the Cowboys gave a huge contract to quarterback Tony Romo in October of last year.
Simply, Jones does not get it. You just do not sign every single great player, and expect to win.
The reason being is that every team needs role players. If you have a prima donna taking on a secondary, or backup role, then you are not going to get everything out of that player.
Until Jones learns this than there is always going to be a soap opera going on in Dallas.
