Wanted: Defensive ends that can sack the quarterback
The Buffalo Bills were crushed by the Arizona Cardinals 41-17 Sunday. In the loss a very disturbing trend became increasingly clear, and that being their defensive ends stink.
The Buffalo Bills have invested more than $70 million in defensive ends Aaron Schobel, and Chris Kelsay. For it this year through five games both defensive ends have combined for two sacks.
Kelsay is no surprise he was never as good as the Bills thought he was. Everyone in Buffalo knew that the contract they gave him was ridiculous.
Schobel turned 31 September 1st, and it is apparant that his best days are behind him. Schobel is on pace for four sacks, which would be the worst of his career.
Simply, the Bills cannot afford to have another lack luster season from defensive end getting paid over seven million a year.
Most likely the Bills will hold on to Schobel by making up some kind of excuse. Eventhough, the reality is that they are now out of excuses, because if the addition of defensive tackle Marcus Stroud.
It is time to move on, and get another one high in the draft. After all haven’t both of them had enough chances?
