Bills were smart to get deal done

Wide receiver Lee Evans finally got the contract extension he was looking for.  Not even 24 hours have passed, and the deal is looking very good.

Evans deal was a very good one for the Bills.  Most likely by the time the 2009 season comes around Evans will not be in the top five for highest paid wide receivers.

The reason being that wide receivers Roy Williams and TJ Houshmandzadeh will be unrestricted free agents after this season.  Also, if a wide receiver is taken in the top five of the 2009 draft that will push Evans down as well.

With the way that Evans has started off the season it would not be a surprise that he has a career year statistically.  Offensive coordinator Turk Schonery made it a point to get Evans involved in the game early, and often, which has paid off.

Now, the next thing that they have to get done is a contract for offensive tackle Jason Peters.

If they can get that done the Bills will be a force to contende with for many years to come.
