Payton gets the short end of the stick
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton criticized the officials who officiated last weeks Denver Broncos win over the Saints, and thus was fined. However recently two other prominent National Football League front office people got off with nothing after they did the same thing.
San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner, and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones blasted referee Ed Hoculi after he badly screwed up a call in a game between the Chargers and the Broncos that costed the Chargers the game.
After they gave their opinion the league did nothing. However, NFL Commisioner Roger Goodell had enough of the criticizing of the officials, and slammed the door on any negative comments about them what so ever. If a head coach, or any front office personell, that person would be fined.
Enough is enough already with babying these officials. Both Hoculi, and the other crew got what they deserved. Both calls were blantely obvious, and not even close to being judgemental.
When a referee blows a call that bad he should be called out on it. Everyone else in the NFL is, but the referees are not.
Hey here is a suggestion make them fulltime, and study film, and prepare for games just like any other NFL player. Then there will be very little problems.
