Bills need to get Evans deal done soon

Many Buffalo Bills fans know the consequences of contract talks thanks to the Buffalo Sabres hockey team, and its history when a top talent does not get signed before the season.  If the Bills knew what was good for them they get the deal done now.

Evans has in the past a slow starter.  However, that is not the case this year.

Evans right now has eight catches for 179 total yards.  That projects to be 64 catches for 1,440 yards receiving.

Everyday without a new contract Evan’s price will go up.  As it went with Sabre contracts the same applies for the Bills.  That being the deals before the season starts will always be cheaper than the deals after the year.

For example, before the Sabres 07-08 season they could of signed defenseman Brian Campbell to a five year $25 million deal.  After the season Campbell signed a deal that was worth more than $50 million.

The Bills offense is off to a good start.  Quarterback Trent Edwards is starting to look like a stud at quarterback.  The defense has proven to be a solid playoff caliber unit.

Offensive tackle Jason Peters wants a new deal.  Also, defensive tackle Marcus Stroud and quarterback Trent Edwards will have two years left on their deals.

Solid years from both players could lead to both of them wanting deals.  If that happens someone will be unhappy as it is nearly impossible to get that many big deals done.

In top of that they have to get their head coach resigned.  So, get a move on it Bills!
