Ealges coaches think that they are as good as Giants

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

The Philadelphia Eagles had a lackluster year this year finishing the year with a record of 8-8.  That still did not stop them from thinking that they are just as good as any other team in the NFC conference.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid cut off reporters line of questioning seeing where it was going, according to Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquire.

However, that did not stop defensive coordinator Jom Johnson from making this statement, “Were good as any other team in the playoffs.” he made that statement based on game tape that the coaches reveiwed.  Johnson went on to say this, “I think that everbody knows we were one or two games away from being a really good team, or one [win] away from the playoffs.  That is dissapointing for us.”

Wow what a revelation that was.  Duh we are in the NFL in the age of the salary cap.  In this age of the salary cap one little mistake here, or there, will cost you the playoffs.

The Eagles do need wider receiver help, and help on defense.  However, that is not the big question that is looming for most Eagle fans  that question being is Donovan McNabb thier long term quarterback.

As mind baffling as it is you just never know what will happen  Hey if the 49ers can trade Joe montana then anyone is tradable, even Ton Brady.

So be on the look out Philly fan, because the unexpected just might happen.

Who will the Next Rams owner be

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

The death of owner Georgia Frontiere was tragic. However, her death has clouded the picture of who will be the majority holding owner of the Saint Louis Rams.

According to Saint Louis Today.com the Rams have been left to Frontiere’s son Chip Rosenbloom, 43, and has a successful hollywood career going for him.  Belief is that Rosenbloom will eventually sell the team.

There is a minority owner that has say in the team, and does play a major roll into all this.  His name is Stan Kroenke.

In 1995 Stan Kroenke purchased 40 percent of the team.  Also, in the deal, according to Pro Football Talk.com, Kroenke has the ability to purchase the rest of the team if the family of Frontiere sells the team.

However, Kroenke can only be a minority owner, because league rules state that a person cannot be a majority owner if he owns other professional franchises in an Nantional Football League club market.  So, either Kroenke has to work it out with the leauge, sell one of his teams.

In any which way Rams fans have a cluster fudge on their hands for a very long time.

War of the Roses resides in Oakland

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

Besides the Buffalo Bills that other organization that is a mess is the Oakland Raiders.  Especially, with the fact that head coach Lane Kiffin wanted to fire someone, but the team said no.

Lane Kiffin wanted to fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, but the team said no. Those were the reports that were coming out, and being reported, and which the Raider denied.

Now, Pro Football Talk.com is reporting that Kiffin and Ryan are not on speaking terms, and that owner Al Davis prefers Ryan, becuase he won over the players.

There is one thing that I have learned from playing football.  If players love head coaches that is because they are softees, and do not puse their buttons.  Great coaches are respects, but at the same time players hate practicing for them, because the head coach constantly demands perfection from them, and anything less than that is unacceptable.  That is what makes Ryan the wrong choice in this situation

Well in any which way the Raiders will always be a mess, because Al Davis is one of hose old school hands on type owners.  So, as lond as he owns the club the team will be in trouble.

Rivers one tough SOB

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

The San Diego Chargers gave a valiant effort in the AFC Championship against the New England Patriots.  The person that gave the gutsiest performance of them all is Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers.

The San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that Rivers ACL is “totally gone.”  The only other person that in recent memory that tried that is Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon.

Dixon eventually would sub come to the injury later in the season.  That what makes the feat that Rivers pulled off amazing.  He put the rest of his career on the line just for one shot at the Super Bowl.

The injury did not help on the other hand.  Limited mobility means a limited play book.  Look back on the game was huge, considering that they were unable to use playaction bootlegs  Instead they had to try jam the ball down the Patriots throat.  Then on third down they used three receiver sets, which is hard to use in limited space.

As tough as a SOB Rivers is he is also a dumb SOB.  The smart decision was to sit down and let back up Billy Volel pay the game, because that is what they are paid to do.  Hey what do you expect form a quarterback that went up to a fan and saluted him.

What does Browms Quinns future hold

Monday, January 21st, 2008

When the Cleveland Browns took quarterback Brady Quinn last year in the draft every one though that he was the future of the Browns organization.  However, everything was put on hold when Derek Anderson emerged as a quality quarterback for the Browns.

Anderson throwing for 29 touchdowns, and almost getting them into the playoffs has earned himself the number one position next year without a shadow of a doubt. So, what dow that mean for Quinn.

Quinn has either two options.  First, he can get traded when the draft comes around in April.  The other option is that the team can just keep him around, and see if last year was just a fluke.  Only time will till, which is the option thatis going to play out.

Any which way it must be frustrating for Quinn having to wait and see what is going to happen.  The fact is though as a quarterback you must learn to be paitent, and hve thing flow to you.

Quinn will get his chane to prove himself with a team.  Wether it is with the Browns or not that remains to be scene.

Jets hire Callhan to get offense on track

Friday, January 18th, 2008

The New York Jets made a splash when iot comes to coaching.  That splash being the hiring of Bills Callahan to be a assistant head coach/ offense.

Callahan was the coach of the Oakland Raiders when they went to the Super Bowl.  Also, he had one of the top offenses in the league at that time.

The hiring is a good move, especially with how bad the offense was. Callahan will bring a breath of fresh air to the team.

Also, with his repuation it will be no surprise if Thomas Jones beomes a work horse for te team, and bring ths running game back to glory.

Ravens get a top candidate

Friday, January 18th, 2008

The Baltimore Ravens were starting to look like a team whose options were runnnig out.  In the end they might have actaully made a really good hire.

The Ravens have annouced that Philadelphia Eagles secodary coach John Harbuagh. Who, according to Pro Football Talk.com, was regarded as a top head coach candidate, due to his experience in speacial teams.

There are numerous successful head coachs that have coached special teams.  Dick Vermeil, Bill Cowher, Marty Schottenheimer, and Hall of Fame head coach Marv Levy.

The reasoning is that coaches with special teams experience are able to bring together people from both sides of the ball, and work coehsively, is an important skill.

While it is all great that Habaugh might be geat long term the fact of the matter is that he is only as good as his coordinators are.

Coordinators are the people that work directly with their respective groups of players.  They are the people that the head coach entrusts with when it comes to personnel.

However, if Harbaugh was to hire a bad offensive coordinator could mean disaster.  Look at the Bills offense under Steve Fairchild, who did nothing with the it.

The other part is that the coordinator pushes rookie quarter backs into the right direction.  The Ravens are one of the teams that  does not have a quality starter with Steve McNair as their starter.

The fact of the matter is that Harbaugh has his work cut out for him in the months ahead.

Schonert gets off on right foot with Bills

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

It has long been figured that Turk Schonert would be the man to take over for departed offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild.  That was confirmed today in a press conference, which Schonert said all the right things.

That last thing that Buffalo Bills fans wanted to hear was how they are going to continue going into the direction Fairchild was taking the Bills in.  Bills fans should be joyed as Schonert has announced changes will be made.

Some of the options that he offered was obvious ones that any Bills fan knew.  Moving wide receiver Lee Evans around, quarterback Trent Edwards to call more audibles, more aggressive play calling, getting Marshawn Lynch invoved in the passing game more, and bringing back the fullback.

The biggest two revelations is the audibling, and bringing back the fullback.  The fullback is to vital a player not to have on a team.

For a great fullback will lead the running back to the right hole if he does not see it.  Also, he is the key lynchpin in sprining a running play open for a big gain.

However, we all know talk is cheap, and does not mean anything.  Bills fans are sick and tired of hearing all the promises.

With promoting from within Bills fans will be putting both Schoert and Juaron’s feet to the fire.  Afterall Schonert has been here the whole time, and should simply know what the problem is already.

I guarantee you one thing if Juaron does not make the playoffs following the 2008 season fans wil be calling for his head on a silver platter.

Patriots get less than a year out of Moss

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

The New England Patriots have been the model franchise when it comes to on the field, and off the field new.  Now, that has completely changed, since wide receiver Randy Moss has a restraining order filed against him.

Accorind to a Florida radio station a restraining order has been filed against Moss for dating violence.

Moss contends that the restraining order is nothing more than a extortion plot to get money out of him.

NO matter what the story is the fact of the matter is that the Patriots over estimated themselves when it comes to controling players.

Having a teammate or head coach pointing them in a direction on how to act is one thing.  Getting that person to follow directions well is another.

The question is now can they get past the story, and concentrate at the task at hand, and defeat the San Diego Chargers.

Things like this for inexperience teams can lead to defeat.  However, this is the Patriots, and they know what kind of a team they are.

It will be interesting to see what the real truth is. That is if it ever comes out, and if it does then how does Moss handle the situation.

Giants getting a cold reception

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Football today has become the main American sport.  It has become so popular that even vice presidents of local television stations are pulling programming to affect the other team.

According to Pro Football Talk.com WLUK has pulled Seinfeld from its regular saturday afternoon time slot.  “We do not want to give them any comfort when they come to town,” according to Vice President and General Manager Gene Zollar.

Wow what a freaking loser this guy is.  Are you kidding me.  Like Eli Manning, or anyone in the NFL is going to worry about their favorite TV show not being on when it is a rerun.

All Manning has to do is go down to the local department store, and by a season on dvd, and a cheap $35 dvd player, or even his lap top computer.  If he is that much of a fan then he will already have a dvd at home.

The fact of the matter is that it does nothing, and humiliates a city, and the good people of it.

The only real way that the Green Bay Packers will win is if they run the ball effectively, and not commit any turnovers.

So, get a life Jay Zollar you loser.
