Bills GM opening could hurt Patriots

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Marv Lecy’s departure was very unexpected, considering the job he did in the past two drafts was excellent.  However, it may not be a bad thing if the Buffalo Bills were to hire someone from the New England Patriots.

Pro Football Talk.com is reporting that the Patriots director of college scouting Tom Dimitroff is on the list of possible general managers.  That would be a good fit considering multiple factors.

First, the Bills would be hurting the Patritos collge scouting, and thus endanger their future.  Secondly, the Patriots have a system in place similar to the Bills.  That being the draft the most important part, with free agency being a minor part.  Finally, he also brings in the expereince of being a part of a Superbowl winning organiation, and knows what it takes to win.

There are some other people out there, but they are just retreds that have been cast aside. They are out there for a simple reason alone, and that being they cannot get it done.

Dimitroff is the best candidate here, and the Bills should just let him clean house.  That includes everyone on thee coaching staff if felt necessary.

Ocho Cinco would be muy bein for Bills

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Cincinatti Bengals wide receiver Chard Johnson did an interview on Sirius Satellite radie, and according to Pro Football Talk.com Johnson sounded like he was positive he would be somewhere else in 2008.  even with all the antics Johnson is someone that the Buffalo Bills really need.

The matter of the fact is that Johnson is over six foot.  Something that the Bills desperately need i their wide receiver core.  Johnson’s size would allow the Bills to try different things that they cannot do with their wide receivers right now.

Not only do they need Johnson’s size, but also his talent at the wide reciever position.  The Bills lack another quality wide recevier to complement wide receiver Lee Evans.  Johnson’s talent would be able to free up one of them.

The surprising things is that the Bengals would even consider moving Johnson.  Yeah, they have TJ Houshmanzada, but  can they really count on Chris Henry as a number two receiver.

Henry has been a problem from the start.  This past year he missed significant time due to  a suspension from his antics.  If  the Bengals were to make him a number two, and then get in trouble the Bengals would have a huge hole in their line up.

The matter ofthe fact is that people will lineup for Johnson’s services around the corner. If he costs nothing higher than a fourth round pick in the 2008 National Football League Draft, then the Bills would be foolish not to go after him.

Will Ice bowl live up to hype

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

The Ice Bowl is days away from happening here in Buffalo.  With the event comes along the hype that the media is putting up for the game.

With the game being outdoors, and some seats view actually being blocked by the boards, many people may think that it actually was not worth it.

The game will not be cheap at all. With the tailgating, and the actial show itself one may wonder where theiy money went.

On top of that if the Buffalo Sabres actually lose, then many people will be left with a bitter taste in their mounth.

However, there wil be those who just want to be there for the actaul experiemce.

In my opinion who cares itis another game.  The only game that matters is the one for the stanely cup in the playoffs.

One last chance for the Bills

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

The Buffalo Bills have one last game on its schedule for the 2007 football season.  Which, leaves the team one last chance that they can play in cold weather.

The Bills make its way to Philadelpia to take on the Philadelphia Eagles.  As we all know sports fans in Philly are not the kindest of people.  If they can boo Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidtt of their own Philadelphia Phillies anything is possible.

The Eagles will be no easy task that for sure.  With running back Brian Westbrook and quarterback Donavan McNab helathy the defense has to step up big time.

The Bills defense for the last two weeks have let the opposition running game control the game.  The eagles are eigth in the league running the ball, so expect the Bills to get a healthy dose of it.

The other things to watch is the weather, the running game, and Bills quarterback Trent Edwards.  The three of them have not been that great as of late.

The most interesting will be how Edwards performs if it is snowing in Philadelphia.  Edwards last two games were in bad weather, and so far has been just average in them.

Just becuase this is the last week does not mean that it will not be meaning full.  After all this is the last week for nonplayoff teams to [rpve themselves.

Ralph spending money proves to be foolish

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

With the weather getting worst you would expect a team that has spent moey on both sides of the line to improve.  However, in the Bills case of the BUffalo Bills that has proven to be the complete opposite.

The Bills signed four players to contracts totalling 150 million dollars.  Defensive ends Chris Kelsay Arron Schobel, guard Derrick Dockery, and offensive tackle Langston Walker have turned out to be foolish signings.

The most foolish one of them all is Schobel.  He had two years left on his contract, and the Bills were under no obligation to do anything for him.  However, they bent over backwards for Schobel, and gave him new contract.

On offense the Bills were no better at guard than when tehy had Mike Gandy playing the position last year.  Also, Terrance Pennington did about the same as Walker did last year.

The fact of the matter is that the Bills need to invest heavy into finding quality defensive, and offensive, lineman.  After all this is the National Football League, and to win in it you must be able to run the ball, and stop the run.

New England fans may be left blowing in the wind

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Earlier this week Time Warner declined the proposed option from the National Football League to go to arbitration to resolve their matter.  The news unfortunately now leaves many people in the cold.

Many people will be scrambling during the week leading up to New England’s week 17 game agains the New York Giants. That will make many fans have to go out to the bars to get the game.

The dispute between the two sides is fustrating enough for fans, but it has to be driving people insane in the Boston area.  Which, they have every right to do after what Time Warner did.

If I was a Patriots fan I be right outside the doors of the local TIme Warner office picketing them to put on the game.

The fact of the matter is that the people of Boston have the right to see what their team is doing.  After all they most likely paying a pretty penny through taxes to payoff the Patroits new stadium.

The fact of the matter is that it is all about the money, and we keep giving them it every time they ask for more.

The NFL better solve this issue, becuase in the end people just may think twice if they get blacked out from watching history in the making.

Bills will have another tall order

Friday, December 21st, 2007

With Jamal Lewis giving the Buffalo Bills problems all day long, then do not be surprised if New york Giants give problems.  Especially, with running back Brandon Jacobs being the same size.

The defeinse struggled to stop the Brows running attack this past sunday.  Most likely the same thing will happen againts the Giants

The defesnse has been hard press to stop the running game.  The same will go for this sunday.

The biggest problem is Aaron Schobel, who has done very little this year. Schobel has gotten the big deal, and now  has gone straight to the hell.

With so much promise going into this year it is very dissapointing that the Bill’s defense has done so little.

Well that is what you get when you do not have size in your defense, especially in the front four.  People on defenses have to be big to clog up running lanes.

If the Bills are going to get to the Superbowls anytime soon then it will be up to the defense.

As the saying goes offense wins games and defense wins championshps

Linehan will lose the war

Friday, December 21st, 2007

It is never good when division starts to emerge from a team.  Especially, when that division is between the players, and the coaches.

Saint Louis Rams head coach Scott Linehan got into a verbal argumet with wide receiver Tory Holt.  With Holt being the consumate professional; you can look for Linehan to get the axe after the season.

It is one thing for Terrell Owens, or Randy Moss to be yelling at their caoches.  However, when it is Holt that is doing the yelling there is something that is seriously is wrong.

I wonder how the hell Linehan got the job in the first place.  Linehan came from the Miami Dolphinsm and they been in the decline ever since Dan Marino has left.

It is coming out that Linehan has had several incidents with Holt, and even Issac Bruce was involved in one with Holt  That makes it even more bizzare this story.

What in the hell has these two guys done, and that is absolutly nothing  Some people are plain jerks no matter what you do, which appears Linehan, they will not listen to you.

So, in the end he will get what is coming.

The lack of coordination

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

The lost to the Cleveland Browns this past Saturday revealed soemthing.  That something being the coordinators on the Buffalo Bills are just plain horrible.

So, who is to blame for the coordinators mess that they made.  Simple that being everyone in the front office, and the coaches themselves.

You would think that common sense would prevail with these men.  That is apparently far from the case with the performance that their units.

From alignments to the calls themselves it is apparent that the two cooridnators for the Bills are way over their heads.

It is just mind boggling that the both of these men could screw up so much as they did.  However, they did just that, eventhough the talent on te teams appears to be adequate enough to be a playoff team.

The screen pass on 4th and 5 will be something that many Bills fans will remember for a long time.  Simply put, anyone that has ever watched football for any extended period of time knows that you do not throw a screen pass with 15 seconds left, and needing a touchdown.

However, many fans could be joyus, or just plain old fustrated when Bills head coach Dick Juaron makes his decision on who to hire for the offensive coordinator’s position, since Steve Fairchild is leaving the team.

Juaron needs to face it that the next offensive coordinator will make or break his career.  Due in part that a head coach simply relies on his coordinator to be the eyes and ears of the team, and great coaching can make a huge difference.

The direction of this team will rely on what happens this offseason with the coaches  They know what they need, and what to improve on in players, for next season will be playoffs or get our of town.

Can the Sabres make up ground

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

The Buffalo Sabres got off to a slow start, and since then have been riding a roller coaster when it comes to winning.  A win against the New York Islanders just might have put them back ion track.

The Sabres did have a horrible West Coast trip, but have won three in a row after dropping the first game back from the west.  Which, Lindy Ruff expected considering his teams history.

The Sabres have gotten some key players going, which is even better considering the fact that two key defensemen will be returning soon.

Dimitri Kalinin returned against the Islanders, and Teppo Numminen was cleared to practice.  With the return of both of them the Sabres should be able to loosen up on offense.

Lets face it what happened to Teppo really affected the Sabres play.  When a close friend, teammate, or family member comes close to death it is hard to concentrate.

I know that myslef as of late, with my father falling ill, and then learning he has kidney failure, and cancer.  I even found myslef completely oblivious to what was happening in the sports world around me to the point that I finally remembered that there was stuff going on yesterday.

With Teppo’s return to the ice the Sabres should be full steam ahead, and will show the rest of Western New York what it is made of.

With only being six points back of fourth place do not look for the Sabres to panic, especially general manager Darcy Regier.

The Sabres will make the playoffs, but the question is how far can they go without Danny Briere and Chris Drury.
