Evans still could get a monster deal
Lee Evans is not having the greatest of years comparing to what he accomplished last year. Howeve, after looking at the careers of two other great wide recievers with the Buffalo Bills Evans could still make a case for a big pay day.
I went back and did a little analysis of Evans to Bills greats Andre Reed and Eric Moulds. In the research I found something rather interesting.
Reed in year four of his career, which is 1988, caught 71 passes for 968 yards, with six touchdowns. Then in year five he caught 88 passes for 1312 yards, with nine touchdowns.
Then I looked at Moulds, and fournd similar stats. In year four, which is 1999, Moulds caught 65 passes for 994 yards, with seven touchdowns. Then in year five Moulds caught 94 passes for 1326 yards, with five touchdowns.
With this ammunition Evans can easily argue that his best year is to be next year. The question is though will ralph Wilson care enough to pay him.
With Chris Mortensen’s report that money was part of the decision you cannot help to wonder of Wilson will pay Evans at all.
There is no doubt that Evans is talented, and is a star in this league. That and the fact that Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild has totally misused Evans earlier this year.
With the last two games Evans has caught five passes in each game, but why have they not gone to Evans on third more. Evans has been thrown the ball eight times at him all year on third downm and that includes incomplete and intercepted passes.
So, what in the hell are they doing. Why not a quick slant or quick out to Evans. There has to be some way to get him the ball on third down.
So, Bills you better get it together, or the season is going to fall apart fast.
